ICYMI: Test gameplay footage of Sonic Megamix Mania 3.0.
This iteration of the project will utilize the Hatch Engine and my Gateway Sonic framework for a standalone, expanded release.
Gateway Sonic aims to replicate 1:1 physics and accurate behavior of Sonic Mania.
The engine is tile-based. The 3D capabilities of the engine are growing, but it is not geared towards 3D use yet.
Opened a Sonic Retro thread for Gateway Sonic, my upcoming 2D Sonic game framework.
Please give it a read for background regarding the project, how you can prepare before its release, and a (WIP) video of the Mania physics & behavior in-engine.

A New Framework For Making Sonic Fangames Is Currently In The Works, From The Creator Of Sonic CDX.
How can you keep up? Obviously I will provide updates here, though to join the discussion or for more insights, please join our Hatch Engine Discord server: discord.com/invite/ZSw23...
If you're interested in following or contributing to the Hatch Engine, please take a look at our GitHub repo. Hatch is a hybrid 2D/3D game engine - it's designed for much more than just Sonic games! github.com/HatchGameEng...
Following the release of Gateway Sonic, Sonic CDX will be migrated to the new codebase. Doing so would allow us to take advantage of a wildly expanded feature set and accelerated workflow. We have an amazing story to tell, and the goal is to provide exhilarating gameplay! (5/7)
That brings me to Sonic CDX. The current iteration of our full-length Sonic CD remake utilizes OpenMania, the current standard for Sonic games in Hatch. As we've been developing the Hatch Engine further while also expanding CDX, the need for a new codebase became apparent. (4/7)
For obvious reasons, I cannot ship the package with a boatload of Sonic Mania assets. I would like to release it as a short game, most likely two brand-new zones. These two zones would serve as a reference for you to create more levels for your own fangames. (3/7)
The framework replicates 1:1 physics, objects, and behavior from Sonic Mania; there are numerous additions to allow for smooth fangame development by you! I plan to release this framework within 2026. I hope that it becomes a valuable resource for Sonic fangame creation. (2/7)
Been a while without much word from me, huh?
I imagine some updates are welcome. First, regarding my upcoming project: for the last three years, I have been developing Gateway Sonic, a framework to develop standalone classic Sonic fangames in the Hatch Engine. ๐งต
Perhaps in a good future?
Just arrived in the mail. Wanted to do some first-hand research.
The original .psd file of the Sonic CD 2011 Final Fever teaser, as just shared by CW. The robot even had a full sprite!

Hello Bluesky! I would like to post here more often, and to start off, here are some pictures of #SonicCDX, a CD remake being developed by me and our team.
