Next step in the process of converting our #S123 to electric drive. The engine and transmission have been removed and sold. The engine bay is cleaned-up. #ev Technically our car is no longer a #280TE, it is #T with E-ambtion. #Mercedes

Last weekend we visited the @mercdes.bsky.social Museum in #Stuttgart. Really nice and interesting. Paid some extra interest in the S123 on display. It had almost the km's on it as our little roadtrip.

Today we had our first drive ever in a similar @mercedesnl.bsky.social #W123 that was converted by #SchilderElectric in #Limmen The company owner, Menno Schilder, was really friendly and enthusiastic. Having said that, our approach will be totally different. Never the less, it felt briljant!

Next job some proper #seat #restoration. Man these things are worn and heavy. All foam is crumbling, the springs are weak and the upholstery is faded. A German company, SJS Carstyling has all parts available for a fair price. First determine what needs to be restored. #Amsterdam #Mercedes #Classic

Making slow but definite progress on the restauration of our #Mercedes #S123 Windows are back in. Some trouble putting the chrome trim for the windows. Any thoughts?

Rust on an old #Mercedes used in a humid climate is a real pain. This week we removed the rear bumper that was rusted away to discover new holes. But it is also fixed. Next step, the sunroof.

Progress on the #Mercedes #s123 restoration. When I was getting the sunroof from the workshop. We noticed some rust on one of the jacking points. (Front right). It was fixed the next day. #w123 #rust

Yesterday I bought a replacement frame for our #Mercedes #s123 sunroof. No photos of the replacement but our hallway now smells like a car workshop from the 70s. Old grease with a touch of rust.

Looking for somebody with experience in mounting a #Tesla #sdu in the rear of a #Mercedes #S123 or #W123. Will it fit? What to change to the car?

A small update from this week. All #rust holes in the side/rear window panels have been fixed. Now we continue with the roof/hinges of the boot. Cannot wait for this phase to be finished and start of with the #ev part.

First we need to tackle some rust issues on the body. #Cordaan a social company in #Amsterdam, with their #Kadetterette is supporting us. A group of people, that need some help, learn how to restore and repair cars.

The 8th of June 2024, we have bought our beauty. It took some time to find her and although she has quite some experience (almost 420k km's). She still starts, goes smooth and makes us (and people on the road) smile. As she was 38 years old, she had some rust issues. #Mercedes #S123 #W123 #280TE
