A messy workspace. Boxes, books, bags, photos, clothes strewn about. I knocked a letter sorter thing, off the desk when I was in a hurry several days ago, and the
contents remain strewn on the floor even though I have to step over them to get to my seat. It wouldn’t be so bad but Alice’s order of service lies amongst the debris. A metaphor for my life.
That looks super tidy to me and a space I would be proud of. This is tidy for me. And I hate it but at the same time consistently fail to do anything about it. Alt text has more detail.

Reading for Wellbeing: Our Team’s Picks for World Book Day - Harmless
By Mollie Smith (Academy Administrative Officer) In mark World Book Day, we thought it would be fun to share some of our team’s recommendations – especially when thinking about how literature has help...
It’s always nice to see my memoir recommended in a list. Trans people and allies have been slandered and libelled by influential transphobes who claim it’s our speaking out on trans suicide that puts trans people at risk. So it’s particularly affirming to be supported by mental health organisations.

it’s striking how so many of us are so inured to the way it is, and has always been, that we fail to see the obvious right in front of our eyes.
I’m glad for each learning moment, but I do wish I could stop thinking about it, switch my brain off and go back to sleep.

Woke up from a recurrent dream - being interviewed on trans matters. I’d been talking about wife swapping.
It was relevant- in that dream way.
Now I can’t sleep because I’ve only now, realised how gendered and derogatory this term is. Centred on male desire.
Husband swapping for me from now on.

Cal, your rage is palpable. I am so furious for you, our youth and their families.
I am still booked to meet Streeting in a couple of weeks and I will share your research. If you want to and are able to DM me a briefing note/short bullet point summary I would be glad to receive it.

I want a society where it’s so readily accepted and understood that some children are trans, it’s the norm, not the exception, for kids to tell their parents early, so they can get the care they need and head off the dreadful consequences of fear, shame and suppression from internalised transphobia

Because its central tenet that young transition is bad, is pathogonomic of a sick society’s unhealthy beliefs around trans people as wrong and disturbed
The other bereaved parents I know share this in common, our child’s struggles started around puberty, an already tumultuous time for young people

Alice didn’t come out to me until she was 16/17. She came out earlier to a friend, then her sister. We didn’t truly support her transition until she took a huge OD that could easily have killed her.
Why do I say this? This research of under 10s isn’t relevant to my story…
it is. It’s so relevant.

@fiercemum.bsky.social’s CURRENT research, consistently supports transition for trans kids. Meanwhile our NHS announces one tiny study informed by data from 1950,66,68 & 81 that informs their belief that transitioning’s a safeguarding risk. The manufacture of hateful cherrypicked evidence continues.

I confess, those marmite pinwheel things are a tasty snack, but not as good as basic marmite on toast , or on a crumpet with cheddar. What these all have in common is marmite plus beige carb. That’s my rule and i’m sticking to it. Oh, and cheddar. Those are my rules and I’m sticking to them 😬

Giving QueerAF’s February crowdfunder a last minute boost.
They do fabulous investigative journalism which the LGBTQ+ community really needs right now.
Please bung them a few quid right now, if you can. Thank you.

A Joan had something to say, but was less bilious so didn’t make the cut. But yes, online it’s mostly men shouting loudest at me, in the interests of protecting women and girls. I’d be curious to know the women in their lives.
Irl it’s mostly women who challenge me.

Thanks so much. You might not have felt this as I yelled to your back, as you ran upstairs “why the fuck would you want to be a woman anyway?!!!”
I was so mad at the patriarchy, in that moment I was furious with Alice for ‘choosing’ this shit!
I’m sorry if things were difficult with your mum 🩷

Ah thank you. They comment as if they know the minutiae of my life with Alice making such ridiculous claims about our relationship. It’s fairly easy to dismiss.
But if it lands when I’m in a slump it can find a way in.
Fortunately I usually only post when I’m feeling robust. So it’s ok for now.

Whilst I appreciate your diligence and sentiment, I do live with the anxiety that I might one day turn up to Alice’s grave and find it desecrated.
But of course, flowers is fine x

Thank you. You have to wonder what they’re actually like, how they treat the people in their real world lives.
It would feel good to expose their online behaviour to their families or their boss, or vicar, or patients…and so on.
