The House: MPs agree infrastructure debate should be politics free
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say *everything is political*.
You want to make a choice between houses or pipes? That's political.
You want clean water? That's political.
Too many people confuse politics with ideology.

Luxon may simply be the wrong person for this type of protracted cost-of-living crisis. Unlike Key, who is far wealthier, Luxon has a habit of entitling himself to a great many Parliamentary entitlements; he pondered a taxpayer-funded Tesla and began claiming the $52,000 accommodation top-up before cancelling it and agreeing to repay what he took.
Key could afford to dismiss these perks, but Luxon has been unable to. The problem, when seen in this light, might not be that multimillionaire Luxon is too wealthy for the moment, itโs that heโs not wealthy enough.
Hosing down speculation of a resignation on Friday on Heather du Plessis-Allan Drive, Luxon repeated his oft-used excuse, โIโm not a career politicianโ.
Luxonโs inaptitude for a career in politics seems to be one thing on which he and voters can agree.
T-Cough is, I think, trying to be very mean to Luxon here but it doesn't quite land: it can be read like he thinks we should always have a Daddy Warbucks as PM while we all suffer. In any case the last line is good #nzpol

Every single time I read an article that reports how Israel gave an evacuation order to a foreign sovereign territory that they're going to bomb 'pre-emptively', I wonder how we got to a point where telling civilians that you're going to murder them is seen as decency?

Mediawatch: Fears of interference and influence in news
Two cases this week raised questions about influence on newsrooms from outside - and inside media companies - and sensitivities about the possibility of political interference.
"There's a power imbalance and it's also off-the-record in an 'under the desk'-style and I just find that dangerous," former broadcasting minister Marian Hobbs told RNZ politics show The Whip last Wednesday.

Also, once again note that apparently the racism and climate denial and so many other destructive policies are irrelevant to Mr Dann. These people are quite happy if the world burns to ashes and everyone is suffering as long as a few people are making money. #nzpol

Sandy Morrison: Bringing Indigenous thought to the IPCC | E-Tangata
โIt is the spiritual relationship that is so often missing in scientific reports, and that I hope will be highlighted in the next IPCC report.โ โ Professor Sandy Morrison.
โโฆthe IPCC has accepted that we need more than one knowledge system contributing to solutions. It recognises that the inclusion of Indigenous knowledges can expand and deepen human knowledge systems. We need to be talking across disciplines, not just operating in silos of expertise.โ #nzpol

Chris Bishop: 18% preference , up 2 points since October. He is considered the best option across all voter groups.
Nicola Willis: 11% preference , showing no change since October.
Erica Stanford: 10% preference , down 2 points since October.
Mark Mitchell: 9% preference , up 4 points since October.
Simeon Brown: 9% preference , up 1 point since October.
Shane Reti: 5% preference , down 2 points since October.
Someone Else: 6% of voters would prefer a different candidate.
Unsure: 31% of voters are unsure who should take over.
It is with a certain amount of amusement that I disclose the information that the majority of NZers want to replace Christopher Luxon with "Unsure" as prime minister #NZPol

Just remembering how Luxon bought a new Tesla EV when there was a Clean Car Discount, then cancelled the policy so others couldn't do it, and is now canning the Clean Car Standards and adding a new tax to petrol.
What a guy.
