This manuscript is about running successful marketing for a business, which apparently requires heavy investment into radio advertising in the calendar year of 2026. Disclaimer: said manuscript may not actually exist outside this post.

So in the case of bigoted people like Simmons getting their books out to bookshelves everywhere, we need to recognize the problem doesn't lie with solely the author. It was (and is) a systemic issue across the industry.

We can't begin to fix these problems if we can't acknowledge that.

Same goes for Card, Rowling, any number of other problematic writers past and present.

Attractive as the auteur theory is, it never applied to authors (at least, not before digital self-publishing).

In trad pub, there is ALWAYS more than one person involved in the publishing process.

Regarding Dan Simmons's passing: I've been seeing quite a few people talking about what a terrible person he was and how the content of many of his books was dubious on multiple fronts.

What people aren't mentioning is that there were editors and publishers who signed off on those same books.

A spambot (now since banned) posting in favor of Elon Musk on Bluesky. Not including the full post text here because it (and Musk himself) doesn't deserve the attention.

Chiitan's Bluesky account caught liking said post prior to the spambot account's deletion.

Pretty sure that if the team behind Chiitan wants to talk the talk, they need to walk the walk.

Which, in this case, means not mass liking random posts without vetting them.

Put a hold on the bot's behavior, and start using human eyes first.

PSA: If you're new to Bluesky, be sure you have *something* in your bio and have posted *at least* a "hello" post before you start following people. We are QUICK to block trolls around here, and no bio + no/low followers is a major troll red flag.
