The WH briefing that they can continue this war "until September" is just impossible, and not just for operational military reasons.

Screenshot of the FT. Text reads: FINANCIAL TIMES "A direct question: Who gave you the authority to drag our region into a war with #Iran? And on what basis did you make this dangerous decision?" he said on X. "Did you calculate the collateral damage before pulling the trigger?" He pointed out that the Gulf states were expected to be major funders of Trump's plan to rebuild Gaza and backers of his wider "Board of Peace". He said Arab Gulf countries had "contributed billions of dollars on the basis of supporting stability and development", adding: "These countries have the right to ask today: where did this money go? Are we funding peace initiatives or funding a war that exposes us to danger?"
The FT quoting Khalaf Al-Habtoor, an Emerati businessman who clearly thinks that words have meanings. Not for Trump they don't, but he does care about money, so this could be what stops his attacks

Widespread panic in #Beirut after Israel issues unprecedented evacuation order for southern suburbs. Traffic is choked, people rushing to leave & head north. Drones in the air. WhatsApp messages urging ppl to crack windows open to avoid shattering from expected blasts #lebanon
Map showing Dahieh in red and orange
The IDF just ordered the forced evacuation of *all of Dahieh* a day after ordering the forced evacuation of all of South Lebanon.
Israel is taking advantage of the focus on Iran to destroy Lebanon
The puns just write themselves.
- who have you come as?
- I have come as the gate of Kalabsha Temple in Berlin
- and who have you come as?
- I've come as Vittorino Veronese

Quietly, calmly and forensically, BBC just dismantled the Trump communications shitshow on Iran.
No hyperbole, just laying out an unprecedented military, diplomatic and reputational shambles.
Worth a watch.

The most familiar emblem of Tehran.
Good plan, there’s no way that the US would ever betray Kurds who fought on their behalf, or that Turkey would be upset by and seek to frustrate any US-backed Kurdish forces, or that an invasion from Iraq would trigger Iranian nationalist opposition. None of those things have ever happened.
Egyptian prince Thutmose was entombed with his companion cat Ta-Miu (aka “little mewer”). Here’s the cat’s sarcophagus ~ the inscription says “I myself am placed among the imperishable ones that are in the Sky / For I am Ta-Miu, the Triumphant” (1,500 BC)
I know A LOT of privately schooled Australians & I wouldn't waste your money folks. Judging on them, I got a far better basic education at my bog-standard, rural & underfunded NZ state high school.
My grandmother’s home, the family home, the home I spent nearly every Sunday in for over 3 decades, the home I lived in as a teenager, that my grandparents bought in 1965 when Ghobeiri still had orchards, the house my aunt inherited & in which my cousins grew up, is gone.
No one was home, thank god
Lebanon
Whether true or not, the fact it's being said shows this entire shitshow could get a whole lot worse very soon.
This is the point. If your vaunted trillion-dollar military can't get through a few days of airstrikes because you've consolidated the industrial base so badly, then you don't have a trillion-dollar military, you just have contractors in No. Virginia getting rich
A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, it’s not a publishing problem, it’s a men problem.
The missile debris fell in Dörtyol, so if it WAS going to Dheklia or Akrotiri it was going to have to make a weird circuitous route over the TRNC first.
I know nothing about missiles, I can just read a map & see a direct Incirlik trajectory, so if missile-type analysts can chime in, please do.
Yeah. Totes Incirlik.
I know I just reposted @nickashdown.bsky.social's post with conflicting posts & suggestions of Cyprus but the trajectory makes sense.
(though LOL, I'm no analyst...I just know Hatay and Çukurova)
Conflicting reports regarding whether the Iranians intentionally targeted Turkey.
'Buwts arn da grawnd'
Great @turkeyrecap.bsky.social conversation with @hurcanasliaksoy.bsky.social about Turkey-Israel relations. She doesn’t say it, but the conversation illustrates that Israel is now behaving much like a revisionist regional power that seeks to weaken neighbors & destabilize the region.
Qatar has declared force majeure to halt LNG production and avoid being sued.
If the shutdown continues, Qatar's top clients (China, South Korea, Japan and India) might soon be competing with Europe for US-made LNG.
I'm going to presume this was aiming for İncirlik? Anyone with a better idea?
İncirlik maybe?
That's the only thing I can think of.
An Iranian ballistic missile was shot down by NATO air defences over the Hatay province in Turkey's Southeast. The Turkish government says that all hostile acts will be dealt with in accordance with international law and that allies will be consulted. Unclear if this means invoking Article 4.
As the Kurds who had depended on US support, were betrayed and massacred in their thousands in the 70s, Kissinger famously dismissed the deaths: "covert action should not be confused with missionary work."
Drones have been incessantly buzzing throughout the night and into morning.
Numerous attacks across the country. Reports of at least 10 dead in an attack on Baalbek.
Many are angry/questioning Hezbollah’s decision to attack Israel again. It’s clear Israel was waiting for this
