While we welcome the move to return £20m of funding to social care, the budget still does not go anywhere near far enough to support a sector facing immense jeopardy.

We welcome the Scottish Government's announcement today that it has committed to provide £20m of additional funds to meet Real Living Wage commitments in social care. But more must be done to "fund social care like it matters".

As part of the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS), Sense Scotland is calling on the Scottish Government to reverse a decision made in this year’s budget, which is estimated to create a funding shortfall of around £19 million across the social care sector.

We’re grateful to MSPs for raising this issue in parliament today and urge the gov to reverse this decision and prioritise long-term, sustainable investment in the sector.
