The billions to DHS have built the for-profit panopticon surveillance state they were unable to fully push through after 9/11 because people fought back.
It took 25 years but they have it now.
This cannot be reformed. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/t...
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.
As thousands of ICE agents descended on Minneapolis this month, kids started staying home from school. A local principal, teachers, and parent volunteers have banded together to keep the families safe. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/IZ9yGT
Journalism is not a crime.
The Justice Department should investigate the federal agents who killed US citizens in broad daylight, not arrest reporters like Don Lemon. He should be released.
It's a spine-chilling assault on press freedom and threatens the public's right to know.
Don was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles.
So much fun having you here! And we learned a lot. Hope people continue to snatch up copies of your book!
“Bands of masked men apprehending people in broad daylight in the streets and hauling them off. Disappearing people to a third country,” a former DHS official said. “We’re at an inflection point in history right now and it’s frightening.”

How many people have to say it? ICE is out of control, and racist as f*ck.
This is ICE culture
“They opened the door and asked if I was afraid yet? I said, ‘Absolutely NOT.’ Then they said it, ‘Well, you’re white and it wouldn’t be any fun and told me to get out of the car.’” - Rev Callaghan
AG Rayfield announces investigation into shooting involving federal agents in Portland
“We have been clear about our concerns with excessive use of force by federal agents in Portland and nationally. We have also been clear about our intent to investigate circumstances involving federal agents to ensure they are accountable to acting within the scope of their official duties. Today’s incident only heightens the need for transparency and accountability. Our office will take every step necessary to ensure that the rights and security of Oregonians are protected.”
The Oregon DOJ is opening a formal investigation into an incident in Portland in which two people were shot and injured during an encounter with federal agents. The investigation will look into whether any federal officer acted outside the scope of their lawful authority and will include witness interviews, video evidence, and other relevant materials. If evidence of criminal conduct is found, cases may be referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney for potential prosecution.

In Minnesota, the federal government is no longer a trusted authority—it’s an active threat. After ICE’s massive deployment and fatal shooting of a Minneapolis resident, Governor Tim Walz has put the National Guard on alert and focused his efforts on defending his state from the regime’s extremism.
House votes to renew ACA subsidies, as Trump is dealt a rebuke on Venezuela

I just watched two women get kidnapped right in front of me in Northeast Minneapolis.
ICE is still terrorizing our city.
A US citizen has apparently been shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I’m gathering information, but the situation on the ground is volatile.
ICE should leave now for everyone’s safety.
I just left the Venezuela briefing.
It's worse than you thought.
Oil company executives seem to know more about Trump's secret plan to "run" Venezuela than the American people.
We need public Senate hearings NOW.
Mayor Jacob Frey: “To ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
Mayor Jacob Frey: "They are already trying to spin this as an action of self defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit."
Last fall I ended up looking at a lot of Seventeen magazines for a project. Even in the late 90's, there was a section of book recs in every issue. One of them was historical fiction about the life of Van Gogh, doorstop-thick. It hit me then how much of a reading culture we've lost.
Brazil succeeded in holding coup plotters accountable. "If — when the glass has been swept away & the trials are over — those who empowered, guided, mobilized, and legitimized [the riots] are never held to account, then... the conditions for repetition remain intact.” jacobin.com/2026/01/janu...

In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.
Well we are very happy! But the more people that get into the I AM NOT HAPPY movement the better!
