I canβt do anything about the childhood that I didnβt have, but I am thankful that these days I have the skills to keep my brain from ruining my life.
Fighting it can be exhausting, but it also means I get to experience joy.
Itβs not a fair trade, but itβs the best way I can live, so I do it.
Now, at 35, looking at those scrapbooks breaks my heart because I deserved to feel proud of my accomplishments and depression stole that from me. My childhood should have been fucking idyllic, but my brain wouldnβt let it be.
Depression.
No matter what I did, I couldnβt outrun the dislike for myself that started at 9 years old. I expected perfection. Anything less meant I was a loser. Superior ratings, A+ grades, and first place trophies didnβt mean anything because there was always another chance to fail coming soon.
Just found my scrapbooks from elementary and middle school. Report cards, music festival ratings sheets, notes from teachersβ¦ itβs overwhelmingly positive feedback. βA joy to have in class,β βgreat listener,β βhard worker,β βvery musical,β etc.
So why do I remember never, ever feeling good enough?
Unclear how Google Calendar added βDinner with Grandmaβ to my calendar tomorrow. Also unclear if itβs the grandma 19 years deceased or 27 years deceased. Also no plane of existence was included. π€·π»ββοΈ
As a North Dakotan, I am so sorry about this idiot.

The Trump supporter who now runs CBS news cut the portion of the interview where Trump said he loved her. Here's why American media has a liberal bias problem.
The internet used to scream at us when we connected, and we didn't take the hint

Ten years ago today, I tried to kill myself. Today, I am celebrating my 35th birthday and while the world is objectively a worse and scarier place than it was ten years ago, I have so much more joy in my life than I ever imagined was possible. π₯°
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

A representative for GWAR told The Post, "Normalizing violence? Humans don't need GWAR for that. There is nothing normal about the Looney Toon violence acted out on a GWAR stage. GWAR is absurdist spectacle. GWAR is to violence what the New York Post is to journalism. Ridiculous."

the kimmel thing is bad but as long as they arent rounding people up indiscriminately based on race, building concentration camps and talking about eradicating those they deem sexual deviants, i think weβll be ok
@gregproops.bsky.social Thank you for a fantastic show tonight! Comedy is seriously important in times like these and what yβall do matters.
I kinda think the way people use ChatGPT is sort of aspirational because it seems to emulate the way rich people have sycophants lying to them all the time until they lose touch with reality and also their entire minds
When I was on Silicon Valley, we didnβt think robot nazis would be here until at least 2030.
I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."
