New polling shows @amyactonoh.bsky.social up 10 in against Vivek in Ohio and @ginafortexas.bsky.social tie with Abbott in deep-red Texas.
Both are fierce defenders of public schools in states that have aggressively walked back their public school investments in recent years.

I got a chance to read this upcoming book by @alisonpstevens.bsky.social and it is SO cool! I have to make sure it ends up in one of my @jrlibraryguild.bsky.social boxes. Elementary students will eat this up!

Image showing annual Non farm job growth/decline in the US for the years 2021-2026
Every president since COVID has stayed above the pre-pandemic average — until now.
That yellow bar in 2026 doesn’t just fall short. It crashes BELOW zero.
Years of payroll growth, wiped out.
Trump didn’t inherit a mess.
He created one.

Reading today with preschool students was magic. I was given the gifts of laughter, off-topic but heartfelt information, requests to stop talking and just read the book, and fuzz. I love kids.

We're at war with Iran. Congress never approved it. Now some members say it's "too late" to even debate it and Raskin is calling that out HARD.
A War Powers Resolution is on the floor NOW. The Constitution is clear. Congress declares war. Not the president.

Sen. Murphy: They told us in there that this is an open-ended operation that hasn't even really started... they refuse to take off of the table the insertion of ground troops ... there is no question that this is war.

Contradicting most everyone else in his Cabinet, Trump just said: "No, I might have forced their hand," when asked if Israel pulled the U.S. into war with Iran.

The Epstein class's kids won't die in this war. Poor families' kids will.
Billionaires won't suffer. Middle class families will pay more for everything.
And for what? For a different hardline cleric to run Iran than the one who was about to die soon anyway?

No More Reckless Foreign Wars, He Lied
As the death toll mounts in Iran and the Middle East region, Donald Trump's indifference to civilian fatalities is only surpassed by his hypocrisy
This from the guy who said on election night “I’m not going to start a war”…This from the candidate who said he opposed forever wars and a Republican Party that promoted Trump and Vance as the “Pro-Peace Ticket.”

The Supreme Court struck down Trump’s tariffs, but this ruling won’t undo the damage to Americans paying higher prices on everything from groceries to housing.
Any refunds must end up in the pockets of the Americans who were illegally cheated out of their money by Donald Trump.

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.
A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.
Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.
This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

Don't congratulate John Roberts or the Supreme Court.
Congratulate Rick Woldenberg, the Chicago-area leader of Learning Resources, an educadtional toy company that had the courage to sue the president of the United States to save his family business.
As well as everyone else who stepped up.

It surprises me how often I stun people with this writing advice, so I'll just remind you here:
You don't have to start at the beginning. It probably won't be the beginning anyway. You can write the part you can see/hear/imagine best and go from there.
