I do believe in social/cultural degeneration

when society becomes more exclusionary and hateful, when it cuts out diversity, attempts to eliminate gay/trans people, normalizes hate and division, that society has declined in moral worth and value. it has degenerated

they believed the society had degenerated because of immutable moral defects but sam is using it to describe traits that are absolutely not immutable

quite the opposite, they are moral failings that they have every chance to reverse but choose not to

i firmly believe these people have deliberately cultivated standards and qualities below any acceptable standard for humanity
