Took a peek at #RootsTech posts over on X, just to see if there were more posts there than BlueSky.
Nope! Iβd say BlueSky had way more content. This despite the fact there is no RootsTech account here. FamilySearch should seriously consider this! #genealogy
Yes, I've downloaded all the handouts and slides from the In person talks in case they disappear after the event.
Day 1 #NotAtRootsTech. Not seen many talks live because of timezone but really enjoyed Diane Elderβs talk on negative evidence.
Me! Looking forward to being #NotAtRootsTech. Got my schedule all marked up!
Great work! I had a DNA case that ended up in Ireland and it was so tough. Figured out where they came from in Galway but just could not sort out all the John KELLYs, Michael McDONOUGHs and Patrick JOYCEs. Had to give up in the end. Fortunately client got a really high match and made contact.
Yes I can pick my maternal DNA matches by the Northumberland surnames π
Enjoying #FewForgettenWomen Friday. Iβve started getting to know my person today although had to stop researching to run some errands, because tomorrow will be 41 degrees and very windy and Iβm not going out in THAT!
Word Cloud in the shape of a red royal mail post box filled with the names of the women that our volunteers are researching

Devastated to hear Peter Calver of Lost Cousins has died. I had a newsletter only a couple of weeks ago. π #genealogy
I always take a break. Research has shown that if you take a half hour break, eat something and go for a walk, you get more done in the day than if you work straight through. Because the rest, glucose and oxygen makes your brain work more efficiently.

Bittersweet - Iβm sure there will be some sadness but some discoveries and reminiscences too. Good luck with it all.

My parents used to put me on the train from Liverpool Street Station from about age 11 and my uncle would meet me at the other end in Braintree. This was in the 1970s.

Enjoyed giving my first talk of the year to @hgs1.bsky.social on Working Women last night. Another 47 booked so far for 2026. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy
Excellent advice here from Claire.
It is really important to go back over old research with fresh eyes.

Image with 2 panels. The left hand side (captioned The Temperature) is a screenshot of a weather app showing the temperature at over 37 degrees Celsius at 11 am, peaking at 43 degrees C later in the afternoon. The right hand panel (captioned The Vibe) shows a cat completely flaked out on a bed that only has a white sheet.

Iβm jealous - I regularly get emails for my dadβs mtDNA but still no exact matches π’π€£#GeneticGenealogy

Iβm still spewing over the changes to the Family Search Maps - I can no longer see which Reg Districts or Ecclesiastical districts are adjacent, which parishes are included etc. Drives me nuts. I get they want a more modern site but seriously leave the old one in place until itβs ready.
Thatβs my problem - once I start I wonβt put it down π€£
Merry Christmas to you too π
