May your neighborhood get new/repaired sidewalks sometime soon!
Another quote from the article that jumped out to me: βI get fists waved at me . . . Iβm getting honked at or yelled at.β
I had to backtrack to confirm this was from a driver. Anyone who bikes experiences this -- and far worse -- every. single. day.
Our system is set up to bully people on bikes.
Maybe she could put it to good use by helping the local transportation advocacy group haul around some tactical urbanism supplies.
I didn't vote to raise my taxes so the city could pay for an ad campaign telling me "do something" about climate change. I want *the city* to do something about climate change. Like, I dunno, fund things that actually make it easier to walk, bike, and take transit.
Reason #2087 why biking is awesome: Some dude just biked past me singing this song to himself. "Golly what a day!" youtu.be/s3OUaBcA-Fo?...
We should not accept this as "normal."
Preach, John.
Can you hear children laughing?
This is so misguided and a total waste of π°. People don't want to walk long, twisty routes. Just make Broadway and Lincoln safer streets to cross, rather than highways through the heart of downtown.
This popped up in my fb memories from 13 years ago - it's like we were living in a different universe then. Talking rationally about important things, laughing.
Great op-ed from @jlocantore.bsky.social about the economic benefits of transit and the threat posed by the Trump admin:
www.denverpost.com/2025/04/25/d...
DSP ED @jlocantore.bsky.social in today's Denver Post: The Trump administration's threats to withhold transportation funding "is a big problem because, in communities throughout the country and here in Denver, transit is essential for the affordability and economic vitality of our community."
So many good quotes in this article, it's hard to pick a favorite, but here's an example:
βI had a mandatory parking minimum, even though what I was building was itself a parking lot,β Farah said. βHaving to build a parking lot for your parking lot is dumb as f---ing rocks.β
This is the kind of local news I need right now.
A win for those who can afford to pay for big lobbying firms to advocate for their interests. A loss for the rest of us.
