This weekend I have been mostly crying at the tv.
A suburban scene of a quiet road passing between elegant bungalows and houses. The area is green and wooded and leads directly to the countryside. In the full ground we see a tin of Walpamur paint
One of a series of ads that Ladybird artist Ronald Lampitt created for Walpamur paints (later βCrownβ) in the 1950s.
January colour. Cyclamen and matching tennis ball πΆ #GardensHour

This was going to be my contribution!
I ploughed through despite not liking the opening section at all and having given up Lessons by Ian McEwan which has a similar opening story. But was very much rewarded for sticking with it.
His autobiographies are very entertaining - a lot of his talent went into his life.
Was inspired by the Dors/Sinden partnership to write a play
Beautiful writing

3 Screenshots from the movie "Barry Lyndon" (1975): First, a wedding ceremony takes place in a grand church with stained glass windows and an audience in upper balconies as a narrator's subtitle reads, "A year later, on the 15th of June in the year 1773,". Second, the same scene continues with Redmond Barry standing beside a bride and a group of elegantly dressed individuals as the subtitle reads, "Redmond Barry had the honor to lead to the altar". Third, the camera holds on the wedding party with the subtitle concluding, "the countess of Lyndon."
