Moreover, the pixel-limited spatial resolution was improved by using expanding wave illumination to enable diffraction-limted resolution at 4 micrometer.
What did we do? We extended the height measurements range in digital holography using two wavelengths with very small wavelength separation. This extended the measurement range from half a wavelength to a full millimeter; more than a 30000-fold improvement compared to the single wavelength case!

Today, September 2nd, Peter Speets defends his PhD thesis entitled: 'Optical interferometric multi-parameter flow sensing of particle suspensions with complex refractive index models'.
Our group is present at #EOSAM2025 conference in Delft with an invited and poster presentation.
Our most recent work is out on OCT flowmetry in organ-on-chip (OoC) devices, see rdcu.be/eytR3. In this work we took on the challenge of measuring very small flow speeds in a OoC device using particle-image velocimetry and number-fluctuation OCT.

As long as the career evaluation judges scientific leadership on being last author it can be critical for PDs, asst. prof. striving for an academic career path. It can be a good division between the one who gets in the money (PI) and the one who does the PhD daily supervision (PD, asst. prof.).
I am excited to share that our paper that has just been published in Nature Communications! We show non-invasive real-time 3D dynamic OCT imaging of pathogen development in plants, their growth rates, and quantify plant pathogen resistance.
