A very lovely boulder found on the beach yesterday - I have no idea of this oneβs geology, maybe a lot of feldspar with quartz?

With over 20 million article reads under our belt, weβre very serious about building a grassroots citizen journalism alternative to the billionaire-owned mainstream media.
And we can do it on an absolute shoestring too. Thatβs the revolutionary beauty of it.

Every journalist briefed by No 10 re Streeting knows who did it but now maintains the fiction itβs not clear who did. Treating government as a political campaign feeds journalists but it is bad government eg the huge number of leaks re Budget options has chilled the economy.

The truth about impartiality at the BBC
And the hysteria of the current "crisis"
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

James Watson, dead at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers
James Watson, the co-discoverer of the structure of DNA who died Thursday at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers.
Wrong. You can't be a 'legend' and 'engaged in rank racism and sexism' at the same time.
It's so frustrating. This misconception is still alive and kicking in today's science circles. Those labelled as 'geniuses' should not be forgiven their awfulness to others.

This is a photo of some bundles of greeting cards which are tied with twine. They are all reproduced from my original linocuts and have design elements taken from foliage, flowers and seed heads. Some of them also have patterned borders with dots, scallops and stars.
I'm putting some greeting cards together for a couple of customers and enjoying the satisfying mix of colours and pattern.

'Branch Hill Pond, Hampstead.' In the summer of 1821, John Constable began making direct studies in the open air of cloud formations. These were mostly made from the high ground at Hampstead village - an ideal observation point.

The cost of the Covid Inquiry so far amounts to 0.01% of annual Gov spending.
The likes of Nigel Farage and Ian Duncan Smith are now saying this is too expensive, and it should be wound up.
That's 0.01% for an inquiry into the worst public health crisis in a generation.

Artificial Intelligence and the news: βcould do betterβ
Growing numbers of people are getting their news from artificial intelligence assistants. A new international study raises some concerns.
Growing numbers are finding news through AI.
But AI assistants canβt yet guarantee accuracy, context, and neutrality.
The BBC & EBU have launched a News Integrity Toolkit to help get there.

In the early 1900s, George Henry, a key member of the Glasgow Boys, moved from Scotland to London. Over the next three decades, his style evolved from expressive, and decorative work towards a more pastoral approach; this work depicting the South Downs dates from the 1930s.
