TikTok was never going anywhere. The TikTok creator gave millions to Trump and they orchestrated this whole PR stunt just so Trump will be seen as a 'hero' to young people.

In all seriousness: the last 2 weeks of TikTok posturing and Zuck grovelling, combined with the X insanity of the last year, should show you that an app with a feed that you don’t control serves *other people’s interests* - not yours.
A lesson from the TikTok Affair should be that bipartisan efforts to preserve U.S. national security are vulnerable to the incoming president getting bought off and switching sides for his own personal and political benefit. Not great!
If law enforcement wants to enter your home, unless you consent, they need a JUDICIAL warrant like a search warrant. And you'll notice cops with search warrants don't ask permission.
If ICE needs your permission to enter, they don't have a judicial warrant. They have an administrative warrant.

First of all, Donald Trump is not president right now. He's a private citizen. He does not have access to presidential powers. He does not have the ability to do any of that. Please understand that TikTok's decision to name Trump in the notification is a choice. They are signaling that they have agreed to privately collaborate with Donald Trump and the Trump administration. For all of those concerns that people were saying that TikTok is gonna be used as a propaganda tool by the Chinese, understand they're using it as a propaganda tool for the right. Now, I want you all to put all the pieces together because what this effectively means is that every mass social media platform in the United States has been taken over by the right wing, with the exception of Blue Sky (but Blue Sky is still very small, relatively).

Well, we're adults (as a children's lit scholar, one would be surprised about the capacity kids have for empathy)...
But! We're adults who want to be endlessly entertained. People talk about the literacy rate, but it's not just that. Some of my elders were illiterate & did not have these politics.
Terry Pratchett mostly wrote in the adult space, but his Disc World books are accessible and hilarious. He did have a youth series about a girl witch, if said boy is cool with female protagonists. She's not terribly girly and there are tiny crazy fighting men and a sentient cheese.
Impossible Creatures by Katherine Ruqnnell is a new series that has similar vibes but an equally matched boy and girl pair trying to save the last magical place on earth. Bonus is that the author also has a book on actual endangered species if you're looking for more teaching moments.
