There was a case here in Cologne: a high end food/market hall was opened in an already gentrified neighborhood and residents liked it very much and said it would „fit“ the neighborhood, but kept on buying their meat etc. at the supermarket. The hall closed after a year or so.
I was also thinking of some form of gentrification, although the driver for high-end retail might not even be related to the actual residential population but to frequency of visitors and tourism.

Eine digitale Karte des Kölner Stadtteils Ehrenfeld zeigt ein engmaschiges 100-Meter-Raster. In jedem Rasterfeld befindet sich ein kreisförmiges Tortendiagramm, das die Anteile verschiedener Heiz- und Energieträger der Gebäude laut Zensus 2022 darstellt. Der Großteil der Kreise ist überwiegend türkis gefärbt, was für einen hohen Gasanteil steht.
Die kann man z.B. mit dem Zensusatlas sehr gut untersuchen atlas.zensus2022.de. Beispiel Köln-Ehrenfeld: Die Karte zeigt den Anteil der Energieträger (türkis = Gas) in der jeweiligen Rastereinheit.
In der aktuellen Folge von @lagedernation.org geht es um den "Heizhammer" und Kosten der Gasversorgung. Long story short: Wärmeversorgung mit Gas wird in Zukunft zur Kostenfalle für Mieter:innen und selbstnutzende Eigentümer. Das ganze hat auch eine sozial-räumliche Dimension... lagedernation.org
