There are only 4 spots left on the Milford Writer's Retreat, running 9 May-16 May at Gladstone's Library. Get a week in an en suite room (complete with a writing desk), breakfast & dinner included (you can also find lunch in the dining hall or at the local pub or deli), access to the common room (complete with honour bar and all the overstuffed couches & chairs you could want), plus, of course, access to the grounds and to a SILENT and *gorgeous* library where you can write to your heart's content! More info here: https://www.milfordsf.co.uk/retreats.htm
A week in a RESIDENTIAL LIBRARY, surrounded by fellow sf writers, with nothing to distract you from your WIP. Bliss.
I'd be going if I wasn't moving house, but there are still a few spaces left!

Screen cap from guardian news report: "A missile launched from Iran toward Turkish airspace was destroyed by Nato defence systems, Turkish officials said. In a statement, the Turkish defence ministry said: A ballistic munition launched from Iran, which was detected passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace and heading towards Turkish airspace, was engaged in a timely manner by Nato air and missile defence assets stationed in the eastern Mediterranean and rendered inactive."
Reckon it might be time to fly back from Istanbul...
(flight in three hours, no actual cause for alarm)
"Neanwhile", Chris? Really? REALLY?
Tweet from @HAWKINSGRENADE which reads: "thinking about when i was talking to my gay bff about shipping and i gave him stranger things as an example and was like 'yeah like which two characters do you think would look good together?' and he took a minute to think and went 'steve and hopper.' and i was like ok convo over"
Book covers are all, 'a slim fem blond one and a young, broad-shouldered dark haired one'. Neanwhile the gay male gaze is off over here going...
I stg if you want to see books like this in your local bookshop, the absolute best way to make it happen is to buy the fuck out of them when they're indie, because publishers only sign what they think will sell and won't take chances without data.
Back this project. Provide that data!

What the actual fuck? WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE COPYRIGHT LAWS IF THIS IS WHAT THEYβRE GOING TO DO?!
My husband has been dreaming up this absolutely wild, queer, post-apocalyptic, camp fantasy world for years, and now the first full novel in the series is finally coming! Check out his Kickstarter. :D
Queer, epic, high scifi-fantasy might be relevant to a few folks: πππͺππππππ«
The time is NOW. Valenziaga will fall.

I'm so excited to read (and edit) this!
Come for the queer ballroom antics, stay for the epic family DRAMA.
(and support one of my favourite people, and favourite authors, so he can pay those expensive visa fees...)
Ooh, I love it.
(Please Repost π)
THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF VALENZIAGA is launching soon, and Iβm looking for people to help me spread the word on Day 1 (03/03/26)
Just a quote post will do! And youβll get access to secret KS merch & a thank you gift π

A view of the lunar landscape above which reads "Have you submitted your Rhysling nominations yet?"

In a statement, Burnham said that, if elected, he would βsupport the work of government not undermine itβ. He added that he had βpassed this assuranceβ to the prime minister.
"I come to praise Starmer, not to bury him."
Perfect Traitors series. Perfect ending. So happy.
You can cancel it now, it won't be topped π€£
I want to talk about adverbs. Or more specifically, the writing advice that says 'Using adverbs is AGAINST THE RULES and means you're a bad writer.'
It's not and it doesn't. It's an oversimplification.
Let's talk sense.

It's staggering. And why on earth did they do a whole plot reset at the start of the season (requiring even MORE exposition) just to write themselves back to where they were at the end of series 4?
So much "stuff happening" and no plot or character work.
Your annual reminder that if you're watching Muppets Christmas Carol you can now get the UNEDITED version with the best fucking song that was only released in the UK on VHS for one year on Disney+ by going into extras π
May someone *forever* challenge Kathleen Stockβs right to be in any bathroom.
They seemed like such nice people. π
God in heaven. They've moved on to Any Dream Will Fucking Do.
Tories I could deal with. Right wing evangelicals even. But Andrew Lloyd Webber fans?
Can clearly hear the party of drunken twenty-somethings next door singing Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat at 00.45.
They know ALL the words.
I have double locked the front door. π
Eugh
It's properly bananas. I can only assume (hope?) they have a number of impressive unproduced scripts...
Beautiful, intricate, expensively crafted wheels. That are square.
