For anyone who would like the clip (including George).
Dear Shabana, I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank. You said: βA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to make a perilous crossing on small boats.β I suppose I shouldnβt be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division. When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney. As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I filled water tanks and picked up litter. What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country. Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it. It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and croissants to refugees and food parcels. When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She said βwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers whilst risking death on the seas.β She said βmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when β¦
Dear Shabana,
Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.
"Laura was not attempting to undermine Mr Polanski but simply to ask questions which would be in the minds of some of the audience, and to scrutinise the Green Party, as Laura does with any politician who appears on the programme."
Don't believe you BBC
I would love to see this data in terms of how where the people polled get there "News" from e.g. Newspapers, TV, Social media etc.
Although this is likely bias as you likely tend towards ones which echo your own thoughts / beliefs, however I think it would be interesting.
Hope won π
Just a reminder to everyone's emotive responses to what is happening in the Iran.
Real life isn't as simple as Goodies and Baddies.
I do want to also make it clear - Khamenei was evil and repressive.
It's more - if a system has worked to get a person into a position then changing the system seems counterproductive to that individual.

I agree, it's why I tried to preface with it's probably cynical, I try to steer clear with assuming any group is homogeneous including government.
I am also no wordsmith and will often obfuscate in writing my thought.

Most people's reaction to Hannah Spencer is:
- She seems nice
- She is talking sense
- A plumber? Cool
- Nice coat / hair / dog
Columnists and politicians telling us that she's some radical left fanatic honestly makes them sound like they're frothing at the mouth. Arses out all over the place.
Why would they?
This may be a very cynical statement, but by giving lower-classes a platform to thrive only reduces their own power.
I am looking forward to the Captain Planet and Green Menace crossover.
I think this drives at the key issue, the problems of addiction in society can not be addressed by a single policy or a single change in law.
So people arguing over which policy should change is a Sisyphean task.
Might be slightly different to what you mean, but I was always drawn to the Reggio Emilia approach to education.
Empowering children and thus building a stronger society.
I think it's important that people realise that hope comes from action and empowerment.
Joining is a start, but now is the time to ask - what can I do?
Get involved with your community - the combined strength of individuals working in alignment is what will make the difference!

This actually gets more to the point I was trying to make. Why just focus on a couple of drugs that are "bad", and not at the underlying issues.
As a side point have you ever looking into the Alexanderβs theory of addiction?
I wanted to put this point but didn't have space!
This only emphasises the issues that are being highlighted. The way things are does not working.
Why shouldn't we look at why addition is such an issue, instead of ostracising and pushing these things into the shadows - bring them to light and deal with them.
Thank you for sharing, I obviously have not been clear, and appreciate your post.
I am not saying that crack or H are not things that ruin peoples lives - I also have many people who are close to me that have died from using both.
But does cocaine not ruin people lives?
Why focus on only 2 or 3?
Has anyone else noticed that Labour and Reform UK Party Ltd are emphasising "Crack" cocaine.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the socioeconomic profile of it's users?
Dear @lucympowell.bsky.social,
I have enjoyed our exchange of letters about which of our parties is best placed to stop Reform. Hannah Spencer MP and I trust that you agree that this question has now been resolved once and for all.
Thanks,
