VapC36-mediated intrinsic stress adaption is required for copper tolerance and pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis
VapC36 interacts with noncognate VapB antitoxins, degrades serX tRNA, and contributes to copper tolerance in M. tuberculosis.
Ever wondered why Mycobacterium tuberculosis encodes so many toxin–antitoxin systems? Could they be “cross-talking”? In our latest study published in Science advances we demonstrate that high-affinity crosstalk exists among Mtb TA systems and much |Science Advances www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

De-novo promoters emerge more readily from random DNA than from genomic DNA
Promoters are DNA sequences that help to initiate transcription. Point mutations can create de-novo promoters, which can consequently transcribe inactive genes or create novel transcripts. We know lit...
Excited / nervous to share the “magnum opus” of my postdoc in Andreas Wagner’s lab!
"De-novo promoters emerge more readily from random DNA than from genomic DNA"
This project is the accumulation of 4 years of work, and lays the foundation for my future group. In short, we… (1/4)

Here we mapped ~250,000 variants of a classic regulatory element in E. coli. Even this tiny 9-bp sequence encodes a rugged, environment-sensitive fitness landscape.
It shows how gene regulation can constrain—or enable—evolution, depending on the context.
