I allowed myself a tiny spin on it..

I think I might try my hand at making a handwritten sitelen pona font for comics. I could use sitelen seli kiwen, but it doesn't have vertical text support, so I'd previously been manually rotating and editing glyphs after typing... but I really want to use vertical sitelen pona!

I really want to continue translating stuff... but first I'd need to get my fonts working 😔

...Nevermind! It was because of the "All_Others" class! I moved every other glyph into its own class.

I also tried doing a chained lookup and it just... doesn't work at all. I've been going back and forth between these things to no avail :/

I've been trying to make cartouches work using a contextual lookup, but it only detects the first character inside and stops there... I think it just doesn't treat the looked-up character as having a cartouche character after it, so it's not re-applied after each character :(

Note to self: never uncheck "Hints" when generating fonts

Honestly the more I think about it the crazier it gets. I originally started making this pixel font for my translation of Deltarune into toki pona, but I'm addicted to playing with this language :p

Feature of my awesome sitelen pona font:
- LTR and RTL and boustrophedon text support (like hieroglyphics)
- Vertical text support (like Japanese)
- nasin nanpa pona ligatures
- A bunch of alt glyphs to choose from (if applicable) by adding a number after the character

How does one create OTF glyph substitutions? I've been trying to to make cartouches work on my sitelen pona font for two hours straight >:(

I do not endorse "Common Sitelen Pona" and encourage toki pona community members to ignore it for the time being. It is flawed. It contains glyphs that represent commercial products, it contains usages that are only a year old (so it's impossible to gauge the future of their usage), and more

"mi ken sitelen pona tawa teje, li ken sitelen pona tawa soto kin". the phrase from "li" onwards is written facing the left. Directional words (teje and soto) remain facing their original directions.

Concept: bidirectional sitelen pona, kind of like hieroglyphs

Does anyone know any UCSUR-compliant sitelen pona fonts that support nasin nanpa pona combination glyphs (other than sitelen seli kiwen)? I really like how it's handled in that font :)

I don't know, it's a bit much. I think that puppet needs a cuppa tea. Maybe something warm and healthy to eat. I saw this post and didn't know at first how I felt. But now I know what it needed.

Typing this made me realize "welcome" is a portmanteau of "well" and "come" similar to how "farewell" is "fare well" :o

My favorite quirk in toki pona is to flip "o X pona!" greetings into "X o pona [tawa sina]!"

o kama pona = come well!
kama sina o pona tawa sina = may your arrival be good for you!
