This is more than conservative, this is trollish neonazi.
Recommended by a colleague: βRamos shows how tribalism, traditionalism, and political trauma within the Latino community has been weaponized to radicalize and convert voters who, like many of their white counterparts, are fearful of losing their place in American society.β
Agree there's a long history of anti-Black racism in Latin America. But, if you read the article, it seems to take things one step further to a trollish embrace of neonazism.

Yes, racism in Latin America is centuries old. Latino neo-nazis in US less so.
**Alt text:** A black-and-white newspaper clipping from *The New York Times* with the headline **βState KlΓ‘n Leader Hides Secret of Jewish Origin.β** The article, by McCandlish Phillips, reports that **Dan Burros**, a 28-year-old Queens resident and New York State leader in the Ku Klux Klan and the American Nazi Party, had concealed that he was born Jewish. The text describes his role in white supremacist organizations, notes that his parents were Jewish immigrants, and explains that he tried to keep this background secret while promoting antisemitic and racist views. The article recounts attempts by reporters to contact him and describes his hostile reaction when confronted with the information. **Alt text:** A full-page black-and-white newspaper article from *The New York Times* with the headline **βKlan Leader Here, Hiding the Secret of His Jewish Origin, Preaches Anti-Semitism.β** The page contains several narrow columns of text describing the background and activities of **Daniel Burros**, a New York Ku Klux Klan leader and American Nazi Party member who concealed that he was born Jewish. Near the center of the page is a photograph showing Burros wearing a white Ku Klux Klan robe and pointed hood while standing before a burning cross. The article recounts his upbringing in a Jewish family in Queens, his involvement in extremist groups, and details of his public antisemitic activism despite his hidden ancestry. A footer at the bottom reads βThe New York Times, Published: October 31, 1965.β
Of course many members of historically subordinated groups align with dominant group ideologies. Still, extreme cases are noteworthy.

There is, alas, a particular type of Hispanic guy who thinks the key to being accepted as an honorary white is performatively demonstrating how super cool he is with cartoonish racism.
On average, yes, I think itβs reasonable to assume people who have historically been targets of ideologies like Nazism and white supremacy to be less enthusiastic about those ideas.
And, yes, of course some people of all backgrounds do adopt these ideas, but sizable multiethnic pro-Nazis are recent
Perhaps unsurprising for Miami, but I still find it notable that the three students quoted with most sexist, bigoted and antisemitic texts are named Bejerano, Gonzalez, and Valdes.
As someone said recently, America is such a melting pot that these days even our white supremacists are multicultural.

Given Trumpβs penchant for drive-by battles, it seems likely thatβdespite heavier bombing this go-roundβthe administration moves on quickly, and preexisting coalitions in Iran re-form and retain power. Not so much regime change as regime roulette.
The historical problem with taking out a cartel boss like El Mencho is that violence often increases for a while, as deadly feuds among rivals fill the vacuum until someone reestablishes control.
I fear the same might be true of this βregime changeβ attack on Iran.
