As violence spreads across the Middle East now more then ever we need our Government to be a force for peace. That starts with withdrawing support for US-backed forever wars.
Albanese has now admitted that Australians were onboard the US nuclear sub that sank an Iranian vessel and left the crew to drown, in a violation of international law. This was always an inevitability of AUKUS. End AUKUS now.
Next weekend - donβt miss @emmashortis.bsky.social talking all things AUKUS with @davidshoebridge.bsky.social and Dr Jamie Reilly.

Spain has shown courage and principle by stopping the US from using military bases in its country in the illegal Iran war. With US military spy planes already rotating through an Australian air base near Perth, Labor refuses to do the same as Spain.
A US nuclear submarine just sank an Iranian frigate off the coast of Sri Lanka, leaving the survivors to drown. I asked Wong if any of the 50 or more Australians stationed on US nuclear submarines in the Pacific were on this submarine.
The Government refused to answer.
The Albanese Government today finally admitted defeat and scrapped its toxic Freedom of Information bill after massive community backlash and almost unanimous opposition from all political parties except Labor.
Last year, 50 Australians were serving on US attack submarines, and that number was on the rise.
The Albanese Government must answer whether Australian troops were used in this attack.
If we don't want to be involved in this war, withdraw Australian troops.

Two US military reconnaissance jets donβt swing by Western Australia for a joy ride. These jets are critical for the attack on Iran and this was an "unexpected" visit in the middle of that major US air war. The lies are stacking up.
From Afghanistan to Iraq, we have seen it time and time again, the US betraying the people it said it would protect. The US is not a force for peace, Trump does not care about the Iranian people and the US and Israel are not bombing Iran for peace.
Childrenβs graves dug for Trumpβs and Netanyahuβs war. This image speaks a terrible truth in answer to Laborβs lies about this awful war they support.
While AI chatbots groom minors & push people toward suicide, the government's response is just too bloody slow.
We need a Digital Duty of Care and we need it now!
The Iranian regime is vile and the attack on them by Israel and the US is a war crime. Much needed clarity on these two realities by Geoffrey Robertson. Solidarity with the Iranian and Lebanese people and condemnation of this latest US Israeli war of aggression is what the world must focus on.
Australiaβs principle national security organisation is meant to be neutral, not take sides. The bias is so open.
ASIO, our national security gatekeeper, not.
We called these strikes illegal because they are. Pete Hegseth admitted today they are not seeking to comply with international law and in fact they view it with contempt!
We asked this in Parliament to Senator Wong yesterday directly and she refused to answer!!
Labor had the nerve to table their Closing the Gap report in Parliament yesterday with the PM grinning in a glossy brochure, like a photo op could hide the fact that they are utterly failing First Nations people.
Are they going to bring in their little Donald Trump dolls and toy missiles?
How did that go for Iraq
Greens are united on this, I am leading as Foreign Affairs spokesperson but I know all my colleagues will speak to this in the chamber today and with any media that will listen.
We now see you for what you are. The three war parties: One Nation, the Coalition and Labor who have never seen a US war they don't want to back in. Millions of Australians disagree with you. They want a government of principle, they want a government of peace.
What a horrific mess the US and its toadies have unleashed in the Middle East. Again. Careless of the lives lost, the children killed and the broken countries they leave behind.
Greens say no war with Iran as Albaneseβs Labor issues support of Trump and Netanyahuβs illegal attacks
I remember how the βshock and aweβ of the US attack on Iraq ended in decades of broken cities, broken people and broken promises. Trumpβs and Netanyahuβs bombs today can only produce more of this in Iran. Australia must reject this illegal attack.
Israelβs endless war continues with more bombing of Iran and the Iranian people. Whether Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen or Lebanon the region has experienced repeated Israeli and western killings and invasions and it always pushes peace away. The world must act to end the killing, stop the bombing.
Yes true they say ethics but are already embedded in the Pentagon and throughout the US military. Thatβs the reality. But here they have shown at least drawn a line.
Anthropic says it has higher ethical standards but it was already embedded in the US military. We have to ask what are the ethical lines that the US under Trump is now demanding they cross? It is genuinely frightening.
So Anthropic, not known for its ethical boundaries, said no to automated killing and secret military mass surveillance, which was too much for Trump. Can we agree now that the US is not sharing our values and we should decouple from the mass surveillance automated killing team?
