crickets from the free speech crowd, of course
Kristi Noem AND Stephen Miller must go.
The uncomfortable truth is that the president of the United States is a man with the mind of a spoiled child. His debilitating solipsism is a threat to the stability of the entire world. A functional Congress would impeach and remove him. But the Republican majority is in a codependent relationship with the president, unable to separate his identity from that of their party. And the president’s advisers are either cowed supplicants desperate to please or scheming viziers eager to use his power for their own ends. There is no one, then, to pressure Trump to resign like there was for Nixon. In John McTiernan’s 1990 film adaptation of “The Hunt for Red October,” Fred Thompson, in the years before he was elected as a Republican senator from Tennessee, delivers a haunting warning as he, and Alec Baldwin’s Jack Ryan, observe a deadly naval disaster. “This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.” We have three years left with a mad king. It does not feel sustainable.

A must-read message from Colin and Sophie Hortman, Mark and Melissa's children:
if i were running for office i would absolutely call my volunteers “the wide awakes,” i would hand out wide awake pins and stickers and hats for people to wear and campaign events would have wide awake banners
Watching election returns last night reaffirmed my belief in hope!
"Vought is an extremist; a tool of creepy billionaires in the corporate takeover of the U.S. government; and he seems to get unhealthy pleasure from depriving Americans of the government services their tax dollars are supposed to fund."

Billionaire tax cuts are a policy choice.
Cutting healthcare for millions is a policy choice.
Cutting food assistance for children is a policy choice.
Taking from the poor and giving to the rich is a policy choice.
Make no mistake: Trump and the GOP just chose to do this.
I’ve been planting and creating habitat for pollinators in our urban yard. Happy day when a Bombus affinis, Rusty patched Gyne showed up. I’m hoping she has found somewhere safe to overwinter and then emerge next year spring to begin the cycle again.

the takeaway from this is that, for all practical purposes, stephen miller is the acting president of the united states. trump is just play-acting as the boss, as he did on the Apprentice. (gift link)

After buying the presidency, Elon Musk wants Wisconsin’s Supreme Court.
Why?
Follow the money.
This is the joy in today!
It is 3 degrees Fahrenheit with windchills of 12-22 below zero. Here in Madison, Wisconsin people have braved the cold to respond and resist.
Yes. That has been painfully obvious. What are you and other elected democratic leaders doing to stop it? What’s the plan?
What is the plan? It would be helpful for all of us who are scared if democratic leadership had a plan. Get vocal, provide direction, stop talking about common ground. There is no longer any common ground.
