Patriarchal fixation on hyper-violence shaped, and most often damaged my entire life.
But it was never who I “was“, and I refuse to believe that men are violent by default.
We can do better, we must.

I am speaking from experience. As someone who far exceeded traditional expectations of masculinity, I was pressured into the “warrior” archetype. I spent ages as a competitive fighter, and hurt other men for sport. I learned the maintenance and applications of several types of firearm.

Unpopular opinion:
No one is a warrior. Feudal romanticization of violence has irreparably damaged several generations of men that were born gentle. You were not born with a sword or a gun in your hand.  You were destined for bigger and more meaningful things than to die for an uncaring king.
