I always thought layers and something very waterproof (ideally from the top of the head to as near the ankles as you can bear). (A colleague had a waterproof coat, with one zip down the middle, a hood, and it nearly reached her boots. Navy blue. Polka dots.)
I send them begrudgingly and then have an intermittent fight when they arbitrarily decide to put my monthly payment up far above my usage. Iβm avoiding a smart meter because then I have handed these energy landlords all the control.
