If I learned anything, it's this:

1. Perspective is a pain, but looking at other games like Zelda made me feel better

2. Drawing one prop is nothing, you need to compare it to other props and visualize the whole setup

Would a map like this be fun to walk around?

Are you also guilty of making an art gallery instead of making progress with your indie game?

I've redrawn 4 snails over the past 3 months. No way I'm making a game as I initially planned xD

Even this new char's shell either looked liked sh*t or some pr*lapse depending on the color😆

Is it me or making a 2D game look 3D is swimming against the current?

I did an attack animation but it will make no sense if enemies are coming from above.

Solutions:
1. Draw just the wave up/down
2. Redraw all assets looking 3D/all directions

And that's how you get stuck.

I got so sick of planning the "spell achitecture"🤮, I puked all over the place (or perhaps I shouldn't have eaten that pastry, I knew something wasn't right about it😅)

We all like cool spells, but when you think about what a spell is, it turns into a death spiral. As a visual learner, I struggle a lot with data.

Gotta draw my own stuff to make sense. I tried google, but it didn't help, the closest match was:

Building UI in #Godot gives me anxiety😅 Apparently, if an item is inside an HBox it loses its properties like Scale, so it needs to live inside a "Control" to be able to scale. This and a bunch of other stuff which feels like walking a mine field 😂 (Truth is I'm just a very noobish noob)

I just got my "Aha" moment with #Godot scenes and nodes, hopefully it doesn't turn into "I'm retarded" moment xD

P.S. Building some meta progression for the game, decided to start from that, instead of getting the player to move (even though that lives in a separate project)

Life has never been easier after the switch to 16x16, definitely worth it. Learned the hard way.

64x64 - first try, ugly, but managable

128x128 - maintaining this level is a dead end

16x16 - feels just about right for indie devs

Also went 8 dir > 4 dir > 1 dir + flipped, works for me
