In 1985, a group of fierce women in law started Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) and for more than 40 years they have helped shape our laws – always to ensure equality in Canada. I was thrilled to co-host the anniversary event and celebrate with such extraordinary trailblazers.
These have been tearful, solemn days in Parliament and across Canada. Sent my love to the people of Tumbler Ridge in a book of condolences.

Second reading is complete, and this coming Wednesday, Feb. 4, MPs will vote for the first time on my Private Member’s Bill, the Keeping Children Safe Act (C-223). Endless gratitude to the advocates, experts and survivors who made this happen. We are putting children first.
After a busy week, it was great to be home with my team and checking in with Hamilton Mountain residents. Great conversations as always!
Dozens of supporters & survivors filled the HoC gallery to watch debate on my Private Member’s Bill; the Keeping Children Safe Act. Many have been calling for these massive reforms to the Divorce Act to ensure children are treated like people, rather than property to be split equally in a divorce.
Bill C-16 has a lot in common with my Private Members Bill C-223. The intent of both is to protect children.
Bill C-16, the Protecting Victims Act, would criminalize coercive control, which makes my heart sing.

Yesterday's $950,000 Federal investment will help renovate and expand AGH to have even more impact on our community, (including housing!) and bring us an even greater world-class facility that emphasizes its deep Hamilton roots.
Hamilton has long been a muse and a magnet for all disciplines of art and artists, and they all come together at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. As Hamilton Mountain MP and chair of the Federal Heritage committee, it is my duty to ensure the whole country knows this!
