My annual "DO IT!" encouragement post!
Selfishly, my time on CSEE council was the highlight of my PhD, it opened doors and opportunities that research alone did not. And I think we accomplished some good things for the society! 🧪🌎

Grizzlies don’t go looking for conflict. And conflict cannot be reduced by hunting.
The most-read article in @canjzoology.bsky.social gy.bsky.social last year saw a jump in reads after a bear incident this past autumn, with the increase further enabled by #OpenAccess when people were looking for answers @cdnsciencepub.com

Populations were sourced from the leading edge (N1 and N2), range center (C1 and C2), and trailing edge (S1 and S2) of the range of M. cardinalis and are set on a backdrop of grey-scale extreme maximum temperature across a 30-year period from 1981

But now, when I hear "well, I use chatgpt because I can code in R / analyse my data / do literature review again", my answer is systematically: no, you cannot.
I think the loss of technical skills is dangerous for research, because it prevents a sound understanding of feasibility.
