Today finally we took time to appreciate our newest publication that took years of hard work! We show that the RNP granule component TSSK2 in elongating spermatids is linked to RNA regulation and translation and potentially through this affects sperm formation and fertility.

Two weeks ago we had our yearly trip to Helsinki for Endodays, organized by the Finnish Endocrine Society. Presentations in the scientific session from our group by Noora, Samuli, Ammar (prize for the best short talk; in the picture), Eva, Signe, and Lin. Great talks and discussions, as always!
Three weeks ago our doctoral researcher Samuli attended the Epigenetic Inheritance Symposium in Zurich, Switzerland. He got to present the first part of his PhD - about intergenerational effects of paternal diet on offspring metabolic health - with a poster and a 15 minute talk. Well done!
More new people joined Kotaja Lab in August!
- Signe Isacson, PhD, as a postdoc
- Julia Podkolina, BSc, as a Master's thesis student
Welcome! 🤩
KOTAJA LAB IS GROWING! 🤩

Happy to have these awesome people here!
Last week we enjoyed a trip to the beautiful Netherlands for European Testis Workshop 2025, where our PhD researchers Ammar, Lin and Samuli had the chance to present their own work. A huge thanks to the organizers and all fellow participants of this wonderful event - and see you at the next ETW!

Multigenerational effects of IVF. Very interesting and highly relevant!
📢 Preprint! How does the environment of a father before conception influence offspring?
Even more, how do paternal genetics & ages interact with exposures to affect F1 outcome?
We tested this systematically, with intriguing findings & some cautionary tales🧵...
