I design soft, romantic knitting patterns and have strong opinions about knit socks. Here you'll find yarn, tea, gardening, and a daily cheerful thing. I used to practice law, but now I'm nobody's lawyer. she/her

Hi #EarlyModern Bluesky - did you know that someone brilliant has built working printing presses using Lego and they are trying to get enough supporters so that Lego will release it as a kit?

They look so cool!

Watching the new Count of Monte Cristo and giggling to myself while Jeremy Irons snarls about "that terrible Borgia Pope, Alexander VI."

All I know for sure is that it lacks power steering and is heavy as heck, which according to my mom makes it nearly undriveable 😅 (To be fair, I am, shall we say, of a sturdier build than my mom and I think these shoulders could handle it, but I'd rather not break dad's precious baby car, yanno?)

I spend a lot of time reading other people's Bridgerton thoughts and reminding myself that not everybody spent weirdly large chunks of their childhoods digesting 19th century social rules so I need to cut folks some slack.

Was a beautiful day to start hosting my first ever regatta. @elleb.bsky.social got a great day of practice in during the full-day skills clinic.

You can see the core strength necessary to counterbalance the wind's power in their sails as they basically do a reverse plank while sailing upwind.

Jason tried to teach me on that cute little Volvo he had in high school, but I was terrified of destroying the gorgeous car he’d restored with his granddad so I didn’t get very far. Now the only one I have access to is my dad’s 65 Mustang 😂 I need a junker to learn on.

Rad Residence after dark: one of us is watching videos about grilling brisket, and one of us is watching an old Huell Howser episode about the Japanese-style garden down in the Valley that's fed by reclaimed sewage water. I should crack a joke about getting old, but we've always been like this.

If somebody had told me back in 2007 that picking up knitting needles would eventually lead to me spending my mornings editing long-form video content to share on the internet, I would not have believed you. Life takes the weirdest turns sometimes.

I dunno, I’ve seen some really good strings of videos over on TikTok with interesting people expanding on and responding to each other’s thoughts, but video has a much higher threshold for doing it well than text does.

Yep, there was so much whimsy and silliness on old Twitter. Bluesky is deeply lacking in both.
