What happens in Texas, 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 stays in Texas. Important to note that these laws are enforced by lawsuits, overwhelmingly pursued by abusers.
In Amarillo, TX - a conservative stronghold, voters rejected the measure in a landslide.
These laws are deeply unpopular + incentivize reproductive coercion.

As an abortion-forward organization contending for reproductive justice governance, Avow is calling on our fellow Texans to mobilize for candidates until November who see the material conditions Texans are living in and who have a justice-driven plan to meet this moment.
Regardless of who will hold the seats of power in November, we vow to hold elected officials accountable to Texans. Not billionaire donors. Not right or left. Not red or blue. Texas is setting the agenda for where a party that delivers for working families needs to go.
As our friends at the Transgender Education Network of Texas remind us, OPINIONS from Paxton are NOT law. This is the same tactic he deploys to create intimidation, pre-compliance and chaos around abortion care.

Black-led reproductive justice organizations have shaped the soul of this movement in Texas.
Movements lose something real when Black-led RJ organizations lose funding.
The Afiya Center's work demonstrates how community-rooted leadership can surface urgent injustices and drive systemic accountability.
We stand in deep gratitude for their leadership and the impact of their work on the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement in Texas and beyond.
Afiya's grassroots organizing, direct services, and policy advocacy broke down silos separating those most impacted by intersecting anti-Black policies+systems.
This was most clearly illuminated when they rang the alarm when the family policing system targeted a client in the Baby Mila case.
For 18 years, the Afiya Center led when others would not address the needs of Black women and girls in Dallas, Texas, and beyond. Where anti-Blackness, homophobia, misogynoir, and medical racism were prevalent, Afiya's #ForUsByUs work was persistent.
Yesterday, it was announced that TX AG Paxton is suing Aid Access and two other medical providers for allegedly shipping abortion medication into Texas. Anti-abortion politicians stripped us of healthcare, and now they're going after anyone who might help us.

FULL STOP: Texans are dying from abortion bans. Tierra Walker, a San Antonio mother who died due to Texas’ abortion ban, was afraid to order pills that could have potentially saved her life. Now, Paxton is going after more providers.

2026 is the 100th observance of Black History Month. To contend for power, we must build inextricable bridges with each other. To move forward, we must know where we’ve been.
Texas doesn't want to investigate those maternal deaths because they already know what killed them: BAD POLICY.
It’s violence without a paper trail.
And why isn’t the death of Black mothers in Harris County a public health crisis?
Because the state of Texas stopped reviewing maternal deaths in 2022 and 2023. The first two years after they banned abortions.
If you’re a Black woman in Houston, Harris County is the most dangerous county in America for you to have a baby.
In any other instance, this would be considered a public health emergency. But it’s not.
You cannot “personal responsibility” your way out of a rigged system. That's why helping someone pay for an abortion is a radical act of community care.
The clinics licensed midwife Maria Rojas’ operated were a critical lifeline for low-income immigrant communities. A community routinely targeted by Ken Paxton. Paxton’s targeting of Rojas and his abuse of his office’s duties are two sides of the same coin and reek of racism and corruption.
