"Guns Save Lives"
No I said donβt tread on *me*. You can get treaded on.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.
*whoa
as the hosts hint that they would like to be invited to watch the movie at the white house, one asks "is there a movie theater in the white house?"
no, dumbass, there is not. It was in the east wing.

I cannot comment on Trumpβs Rob Reiner post because I didnβt read it. And when reporters read it aloud to me, I couldnβt hear it because I was plugging my ears.

After four years of Democrat Party chaos, America is finally under the resolute leadership of President Donald J. Trump, who reminds me of my alcoholic father.

More people need to just call them on their lies immediately. They melt like this guy.

In their humor newsletter today, @newyorker.com re-shared this thing I wrote 8 years ago, so I am re-sharing it here too. I think it holds up well.
Okay gang, The Onion is 80 sign-ups away from our 60,000th print subscriber.
This would put us in contention for the Top 10 most circulated newspapers in the U.S.
So! We're giving our 60,000th subscriber a mystery box by our archivist as a nice lil thank you.
Sign up now. I'd give it an hour.
Liberals are constantly trying to indoctrinate our young people. You can see the proof in this colorful PragerU video presented by the Young America's Foundation at a Turning Point USA school club meeting.
I know weβve been talking about the 25th Amendment being invoked for years now, but we should probably be talking about it a lot more and a lot more seriously right now.
What are those seminal truths that supply essential context to the daily news report? Hereβs my list: That the United States has become an authoritarian state, with armed soldiers on city streets; immigrant neighbors abducted and disappeared by masked agents; the state seizing stakes of companies; political opponents targeted with criminal probes; educational institutions extorted into obedience; media organizations paying tribute to the ruler. This is reality. That Trump is personally deranged and debilitated. That he operates almost entirely in a bubble world of lies and fantasies. That he makes things up, is misled by his staff, and often doesnβt know what they are doing. That white Christian nationalism and virulent racism are primary drivers in this administration. That misinformation and lies are not coincidental to the Trump agenda, they are essential to it. That Trump is engaged in a massively corrupt scheme to enrich himself, his family, and his oligarch friends. That Trump is leading what is effectively a criminal enterprise β openly violating the law at almost every turn. That the Trump administration is systemically diminishing hard-fought civil and human rights for women, for immigrants, for brown people, and for trans people. That the Republican Party of the past no longer exists. It is no longer serious or credible. That the nationβs historic checks and balances, through the separation of powers, have collapsed. That the federal government β especially the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security β has been so weaponized against Trumpβs political opponents that nothing it says can be trusted without evidence. That Trumpβs cruelty and racism have been fully embraced by the MAGA movement and by federal agents terrorizing and abducting immigrants.
Here's my list of the essential truths about our current crisis that are routinely missing from New York Times coverage: presswatchers.org/2025/12/new-...
The police are describing this as a "tragic accident." It's not. It's negligence and recklessness, and it was 100% avoidable.
This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
I see this sort of proud posturing a lot and it's really a wonderful way to loudly demonstrate to everyone you have absolutely no idea what's going on
You sound like the kind of person who needs MORE poetry in their life, not less.
This is actually a good example of why the customer model is wrong.
I wouldn't have chosen poetry writing, but UNC made me take a class. And it absolutely made me become a much better writer, with an eye to concision and an ear now trained to the rhythm of words. I'm a better historian as a result.
This is a very good and unflappable job by John Berman of CNN. Worth watching whole segment.

Will saving the Onion change the world? Or stop any of [gestures around?] No. But with so many people tearing stuff down, let's celebrate the people who build.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.
She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:
I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.
