This also applies to mainstream education. Choice reforms encourage families to choose schools beyond their nearest option, often based on reputation or inspection reports. Second, market-driven reforms tie funding to enrollment, pushing schools to attract students from wider areas (3/4)
Excluding SEND students from mainstream schools forces them to travel longer distances, reducing their ability to engage in active travel and weakening the school's role in fostering community life. It also contributes to higher carbon emissions and local air pollution. (2/4)
Seeing school travel, especially for SEND students, as just a cost makes children seem like a burden to local authorities. Our research shows that national education policy reforms have made school commutes longer, undermining health and environmental goals (1/4) www.bera.ac.uk/blog/escalat...

A lisitng of some of my publications pirated by Meta
Meta pirated eighteen of my publications--an edited book, a book review, chapters and journal articles--to train Llama 3, its AI. Wonder how happy Elsevier, Bloomsbury etc are about that?
Iconic cartoon with people looking at a long list of public benefits connected with climate action, asking βWhat if itβs a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing?β
15+ years old, but still VERY relevent β and if we had acted 15 years ago, the βbetter worldβ weβd be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences weβre just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner. Even worse if we donβt heed it now. #ClimateCrisis

βThe climate crisis poses a bigger existential threat to this country than Putin does or ever will, so if money can be found for the military thereβs no reason why it couldnβt also be found to accelerate self-sufficiency in clean energy. That might really do something for national securityβ. Important paper that offers an evaluation and critique regarding the current state of energy geographies before outlining a few pathways that the authors think can help "move the needle" and advance the subdiscipline. How do you think we can move the subdiscipline forward?
