On the contrary, I suspect our mistakes, arising from embarrassingly simple errors, are so monumental that future generations will rightfully mock our hubris and use our foundational misunderstandings as an example of the blinding powers of arrogance.

It deeply bothers me when professions say something like, "we have it mostly figured out", echoing the repeated folly of previous generations. I cannot agree that we're finally the enlightened generation that has it mostly figured out.
