Want to help save transit but would rather not talk to strangers? Consider making poster holders out of PVC for us to give to the volunteers who are talking to strangers!
instructions are here drive.google.com/file/d/1YgSt...

Congrats to BART rider and Oakland legend Alysa Liu on winning a gold medal at the Olympics and making the Bay Area proud!
Oh thatโs pretty clever. I always thought old Ironsides and Great America stations are a bit close to each other. Cool that they found a way to take advantage of that
Man, if BART ceased operations, I would literally consider leaving the Bay.
So much of my QoL is based around BART existing.
If you see people gathering signatures, sign the petition! And vote yes this November to save transit! It's gotta happen!
For what it's worth, CAHSRA under Ian Choudri has really been pushing to drop Merced from the initial segment, so that they can focus on getting to Gilroy
I suspect this station relocation proposal is them trying to sandbag Merced so they can finally get started on the Pacheco Pass instead

Turns out car-free Tahoe is easier than you might think (once you get there)! I've added Tahoe Basin trailheads to the Hiking by Transit map:

Happy New Year! This year, Iโm looking for a new role as a paralegal, policy analyst, compliance specialist, or similar role.
As a public transit advocate, I regularly review proposed legislation and provide timely analysis for affected stakeholders.

I love that this person seems to think that tech bros don't live in SV/SJ
Plenty of us down here! And I don't think anybody is much happier about that arrangement than they are up in SF
It is kind of weird that liberals seem to think that Indians are super pro-israel or something, there is a strange set of extremely anti-muslim accounts on Twitter that have this perspective, but it is absolutely not common among even the relatively right-wing Indians I know
ONT Connector Project โ Cancel Procurement and Close the Project That the Board, acting as the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority: Cancel the Request for Proposals to shortlist a Design-Build team for the Ontario Connector Project (Project), deallocate unexpended funds previously programmed or planned for the Project, and close out the Project. Presenter: Victor Lopez This item has not received prior policy committee or technical advisory committee review. Victory! SBCTA is cancelling the ONT Tesla Tunnel project - which would have duplicated BRT with an tunnel for cars - after construction costs escalated to $1-2 B. Time to pivot to electrification and 15 minute service on the San Bernardino line, planning for future multi-use heavy rail to ONT.

BART could drop from 4,200 trains per week to just 500 trains per week. A 88% decrease in service.
Caltrain will only run 1 train per hour and cut weekend service.
Muni could cut almost 50% of Muni service, reduce fare discounts, and shrink the streets division
AC Transit will implement 37% in service cuts.
The Bay Area is at risk of massive transit service cuts if we don't pass a 2026 regional funding measure.
It cannot be overstated how disastrous cuts would be for our entire region.
Please read this thread for actions you can take to save Bay Area public transit. And share to spread the word! ๐งตโฌ๏ธ

Volunteer to get a regional transit funding measure passed!
Actually changed my mind, no point being whiny when thereโs work to do
I think the Palisades fire is back in the news because there was a guy arrested recently for potentially starting it: www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr...
And of course conservatives are all trying to claim that he was some Antifa supersoldier who started the fire under direct orders from Biden himself
It would be kinda funny to pass the transit-oriented development bill and then not fund transit
Ladies and gentlemen, we did it. SB 79 has been signed.
I think Good Old Games has sc2k: www.gog.com/en/game/simc...

Rumor is that Gavin Newsom is wavering on housing and might veto SB 79. If you live in California, please reach out to the governorโs office today: cayimby.org/call-sb-79/

Still need Gavin to sign but I assume that won't be an issue? I never can understand what's going on in that guy's head though
Cortese voted yes, and the vote only has a margin of one right now so basically... you're welcome ๐
[BILL ALERT] SB 79, which broadly legalizes more homes near high quality transit stops, has passed the Senate floor! The bill is now on the Governorโs desk. Learn more: cayimby.org/legislation/...
Fair enough, I haven't paid attention to his record on housing. Hopefully he can come around on this one
Just called Corteseโs office, heโs usually pretty good on transit issues so I think he should be gettable here. Other South Bay ppl should do the same!
[BILL ALERT] SB 79, which broadly legalizes more homes near high quality transit stops, has passed the Assembly floor! The bill now goes to the Senate for concurrence, then the Governorโs desk. cayimby.org/legislation/...
SB 79 is up in the Assembly!
My hope for CAHSR has always been that the initial Central Valley segment gets opened and sunk cost fallacy gets the rest of the system built
