One month in, Trump has weaponized the federal government to silence diversity in schools. But LGBTQ+ students have rights, and schools should not shirk from enforcing those rights due to inappropriate pressure from political appointees.

Trump has relied on executive orders to intimidate institutions - like hospitals and schools - to adopt trans-exclusionary policies. As trans youth assert their rights, the courts are showing that Trump's orders are all bark and no bite.

In the hearing, she repeatedly admitted she needed to learn more before she could answer senators' questions and expressed support for exclusionary policies that target LGBTQ+ students.
