How Pixar’s Open Sexism Ruined My Dream Job (Guest Column) A former Pixar employee writes that after John Lasseter's departure, the company still has a lot of work to do to fix its sexist culture.

If you're wondering how bad things were at Pixar for women, the answer is pretty horrifyingly bad.

The LLM you use to code was trained on the open net, so weird security risks from hidden cryptocurrency mining just show up every now and then.

Ok this is part of the HHS competency framework and it is some bullshit.

Literally anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist, or " health coach". There is no certification for this and RFK Jr. wants medical students to learn how to integrate woo into their curriculum.

North Kona's Primary Aquifer Provides Plenty Of Water β€” For Now The Keauhou aquifer's current usage leaves room for more development, but a changing climate could significantly undercut that.

North Kona water supply is in pretty good shape, despite a huge amount of it going to golf courses. Monitoring and adaptive planning to help it stay that way.

I have so many examples of students questioning whether I know enough about a topic to teach it. I asked in faculty meeting "who has been questioned whether they are qualified to teach a class?" The women raised their hands, the men didn't. It's definitely rooted in sexism and racism.

How Kennedy Is Trying to Revamp Medical School

RFK Jr & McMahon wrote a vile letter to my medical school telling us we must stop generating a diverse medical workforce or they'd destroy us

🚨 He's also now forcing US medical schools to adopt HIS KOOKY CURRICULUM that "draws heavily on the work of Dr. Casey Means"

White House stalls release of approved US science budgets The US Congress rejected sweeping cuts to science agencies. But the NIH, the NSF and NASA have had their spending slowed.

Congress rejected massive cuts to US science budgets for 2026, but much of the money still isn’t flowing to researchers.

The culprit? The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is quietly slow-walking the release of funds. πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡

The big picture: Hegseth told Amodei in a tense meeting on Tuesday that the Pentagon will either cut ties and declare Anthropic a "supply chain risk," or invoke the Defense Production Act to force the company to tailor its model to the military's needs.

Why it matters: The Pentagon wants to punish Anthropic as the feud over AI safeguards grows increasingly nasty, but officials are also worried about the consequences of losing access to its industry-leading model, Claude.

"The only reason we're still talking to these people is we need them and we need them now. The problem for these guys is they are that good," a Defense official told Axios ahead of the meeting.
Anthropic has said it is willing to adapt its usage policies for the Pentagon, but not to allow its model to be used for the mass surveillance of Americans or the development of weapons that fire without human involvement.
Anthropic's Claude is the only AI model currently used for the military's most sensitive work.

There's a lot going on.

But it deserves FAR MORE ATTENTION that Whiskey Pete is going to seize the means of AI production so he can 1) engage in mass surveillance of Americans and 2) shoot without human intervention.

Dystopias this bad would be deemed unrealistic.

Testing medical AI in the background (silent trials) is a mess of inconsistent terms and missing guidelines. A new study finds most focus on technical metrics (AUC) but ignore how humans actually use the tools, making it hard to know if these models will work once they’re finally live.

ChatGPT Health performance in a structured test of triage recommendations - Nature Medicine A stress test of ChatGPT Health triage revealed missed high-risk emergencies and inconsistent activation of suicide-crisis safeguards, raising safety concerns for consumer-scale deployment.

A new Nature Medicine study on ChatGPT Health isn't encouraging.

The system under-triaged 52% of emergencies, telling folks with DKA to wait 24-48 hours. It does fine on routine stuff, but fails at clinical extremes.
I'll take a deeper look 🧡
