Yes. Agree wholeheartedly.
If we think that sharing Epsteins files would help, I am all for it. But congress has not shown any appetite to protect women and girls.
Epstein was horrific and should have languished in jail his whole life. Trumpβs birthday card to Epstein, does not shed any new light on what we already know of Trump and will not stop pedophilia or protect young people from future abuse. It distracts from the real issues.
I donβt care about salacious birthday cards from 25 years ago. I care about public health, upholding of the laws of the country, and supporting the most vulnerable. Among other things. Congress, and Senate, get to work on whatβs really important.
Firing RFK Jr would unburden a lot of overworked mitochondria in this country
Love Andor!!
Continued admiration for NIH colleagues who continue to toil in less than ideal environment in their passion to support science and innovation that only NIH funds.
Love Andor!
Update- money came through at the 23rd hour to save the site and project. It didnβt need to be this way.
Furious that NIH is holding up grant money for a noncompetitive continuation that is supporting a randomized controlled trial in full swing despite approval by the specific institute and money already allocated. Being DOGEβd to ensure no forbidden science. Clinical sites at witβs end!
Is there a logical reason why my computer has to update and reboot right in the middle of meetings during the workday? All weekend dear computer could have updated and rebooted.
A piece of good news! I am sure they will appeal and appeal and appeal until they reach the supreme court. Nonetheless, maybe this will stem the bleeding for nonsensical reasons. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...
Letβs hope that congress sees fit to not cut NIH budget as proposed. For the future of science.
Former post doc, now PGY1 Psychiatry resident presenting their ongoing research. Very exciting to see.
One of the best things about scientific conferences is reconnecting with former colleagues. #CPDD25 is full of smart, accomplished addiction researchers, both preclinical and clinical.
No Kings in America! Pittsburgh 6/14/25
No More Kings demonstrations tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting other patriots like me to demonstrate for the values on which our democracy was founded.
I should say that this isn't a result of the wonderful and efficient scientific staff and project officers. Those folks are the best!!
Which we can't give them without a Notice of Award. Talk about a waste of funds...
In our $15 million HEAL funded multi-site clinical trial, we need the funds for current year expenses. Our sites are federally qualified health centers which cannot float research staff expenses. One of our best enrolling sites can't afford the staff salaries without guarantee of funding...
The current state of NIH is the epitome of waste- once the scientific institute vets the carry forward request, it goes into a black box where someone (political) outside the scientific institute has to approve the carry forward request before it is released. a thread...π§΅
Terrific clinic retreat including Pittsburgh trivia contest - stumping us all on Punk Rock band from PGH in the 1970s-1980s. Breakout groups helped redesign exam rooms to allow providers to face towards patients when on computer. @pittgim.bsky.social
Reminder: The 2025 Greenwald Family $5000 Award for the best research paper on gun violence/injury prevention/gun policy is accepting nominations now through July 24, 2025. Qualitative and quantitative studies from all academic disciplines are eligible.

What a perfect analogy. Just heard that PCORnet also on the chopping block. Frightening
Hard to know how to respond to one after another jaw dropping bits of news from HHS and Kennedy- do we crawl under a bush and hope it just goes away? My weapon is to try to connect with others in a meaningful way in professional and personal life. Others who have different world views.
@upmc.com kneel for George Floyd, racial justice. 5 years out, the group has shrunk but is still filled with spirit. We cannot forget our countryβs legacy of slavery, Jim Crow and mass incarceration.
@societygim.bsky.social #SGIM25 found the Yeti!!
Terrific workshop on prognostication at @societygim.bsky.social #SGIM25. Thinking about some of my elderly patients with comorbidities and how I might use these tools to support important conversations about goals and expectations
