Yes for sure. But we're talking about my grandparents who lived that life, so 3 generations ago rather than 1. I'm fully onboard with more housing, stronger unions, and higher tax rates at the top, but we gotta represent history accurately

I graduated from college in 1992, in other words, a generation ago, and I can confirm that this is a complete lie.
Why would I want a financial newsletter from a liar like you?
LOL, I listened to the post-NLD episode on your recommendation, and I think I'm gonna need to go back for more
This podcast episode discusses Lamarr's life and scientific contributions at the beginning. It's an amazing story
Milwall more likely to be in the PL next season than spuds
To have the NLD immediately after the Wolves disaster is honestly the best thing that could have happened. It FELT like a big game due to rivalry and history but was really one of our 3 or 4 easiest league games of the season.
Anyway, what's this long list of PL champions that fans of other teams liked & speak of fondly?
Leicester
maybe Man City in 2012
maybe LFC in 2019-20 after so many years without a title
But that's like the complete list right there?
IMO the issue is the highlighted part b/c too few on the Dem side can say the right things & sound like a normal person doing so.
Schumer, Jeffries, Kaine, Haley Stevens, Klobuchar mostly cannot
AOC, Mamdani, Talarico, Crockett, McMorrow: yes. But they're harder to find than they should be
I wonder how many people here know that Strom Thurmond, who famously filibustered for over 24 hours in opposition to civil rights, had a biracial daughter, whose existence was secret until after his death. So I guess there's no way he could have been a racist!
The last time I could only follow through this website & the liveblog was the game at Wolves 2 weeks ago, so I feel like I deserved this one.
What's great about this line from the GOP is that it doesn't just make Reagan a terrible president, it makes him a TRAITOR. Selling arms to Iran when prohibited is a prodedural crime in peacetime, a different type of crime if, as they argue, we were at war.
Not sure I agree. Obviously no grieving family member wants to hear: "President & SecDef don't give a shit."
But that's the truth, and hearing the truth is generally better than insincere sympathy.
IOW, I hope those conveying terrible news speak only for themselves & don't lie for the gov't
LOL, after hearing Tim yesterday I debated whether or not to listen but maybe now I have to
Filibusters!!!
19th century definition, in the tradition of William Walker and others.
If we win and rivals say: "worst champs ever,"* they'll be partly right compared with league.
But compared with the entire world we're one of the best ever. Several of years there were no PL teams in last 4 of CL.
*won't care about that AT ALL
OJ?
Maybe only GenXers and older can appreciate this, but he did Hertz commercials, starred in The Naked Gun, and was still a celebrity 15 years after his playing career had ended, which is why the news was so shocking.
Fair enough. I think some of these shows are a lot more interesting than others, but when your club has a decent chance of winning I guess they all bring some excitement.
Thank you for doing all this research -- look forward to reading the article.
This is where I think American Exceptionalism is destructive. I was taught a triumphalist version of history, which naturally makes people think: "it can't happen here."
Yeah, exactly this. At the beginning of the knockouts, the draw does provide a lot of suspense. But you can do it for multiple rounds all at once rather than hosting another TV program every few weeks.
UEFA's addiction to holding these "events" is really quite pathetic. It's one thing if there are 6 or 7 possibilities for your next opponent. But ... it might be one team, or it might be this other team? SAD.
It's a purple patch, just a run of hot finishing in NYC
As happy as I was with the NLD, I was equally gutted about the gold medal game

Clown league.
Clown country.
(True of the good old USA as well, we're just clownish in different ways)
He's been forced to play too many minutes IMO -- simple as that.
We have seen Saka & others tail off at the ends of recent seasons, Timber is just getting to that point a little early.
Or ... are we overly sensitive because this is the team we support?
At any rate, we have won 2 league games out of the past 7, and those bad results weren't due to media narrative, so I'm indifferent right now to whatever biases exist.
But isn't the club leading the pack always going to get more scrutiny than the chasers? If City had started 2026 w/ a lead & whiffed on multiple opportunities to drive nails into the coffin ... would expect different coverage
I have a hard time arguing w/ the criticism we're receiving right now
