Absolutely. It's one of the best changes (maybe the best?). I wish I could say it makes up for the short-changing of everyone else, though (even Hunnigan! Where is that final conversation, Capcom???). "Story of my life" indeed!
I like this movie a lot but one of the big reasons is that Costner was largely just making a love letter to his friend and one of the GOATs with Duvall. Give people their flowers, I say.

Anyway, plenty to really dig into and appreciate, despite some pretty big foibles. I'm sure I'll have fun tinkering away at the post-game and other playthroughs. I've 100% RE4 on I think every possible system so...we'll see how this goes.
And while most of the performances are good to great, it's actually shocking how awful Ada is, here. Like someone they found outside the studio at the last minute who also happened to have had dental surgery that day and is both numb and half-asleep.
This aspect was pretty disappointing, especially since they do a lot of work to keep Leon full of one-liners. Removing the hilarious radio conversations was also a misstep, I'd say. They were fun asides that gave you a lot of character for the bad guys.
The script isn't nearly as tight, or as fun. And while Ashley is wildly better off in this version, making her more competent came, apparently, at the cost of robbing the villains of all their queening out, one of the highlights of the original.
It's obviously incredibly well made, with sleek mechanics and tons of quality of life improvements and exciting gameplay. I had a lot of fun playing it...but there's no question this is not as good as the original.
That's RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE finally sorted. I don't know why I really put it off for so long...maybe because the original is my favorite game, or I was stuck in this rut of thinking I would find the "right" time to play it.
