All of this applies to USPS too. You'd also be surprised about how many people hate checking their mailbox or don't because they're not expecting anything in particular. Don't assume people check mailboxes or receive packages regularly. Clarity is kindness!
You might wonder: "What about if it's a surprise package"
You can still send a surprise package while still telling them the important info. If they don't know who it's coming from, how are they supposed to follow up with you? Or worse, what if it gets stolen and they didn't even know about it!
4. Confirm that they actually received it: many people jump from Tip #1 to this step. That's when you get hit with questions like: "where was it delivered?", "which company?".
We also forget that people order things for themselves, so this helps them determine what has actually arrived.
