Played my first two games of Endangered today, with the tiger scenario, and have really enjoyed both plays. Very cool dice based worker placement puzzle with a fun variety of player powers and variable goals.
Been playing a bunch of animal themed games these days. Played my first two games of Aquaria yesterday. Interesting use of semi spatially based action selection with a card drafting/tile laying/resource management puzzle, but I kinda just feel meh after each play, even as I'm getting better at it.
Planning a video for the Zach Attack scratch off games and thinking of recording playthroughs of two of them. Which of these would you be most interested in seeing?
Glad to finally find a solo RPG that doesn't instantly scare me away by making me feel like I'm not creative enough, lol. Loving the inclusion of a physical combat system as well! Fairly likely I'll have a video for it up at some point!
Started my first game of @gilarpgs.bsky.social Rune today, and I think it might finally be the perfect bridge from boardgames to solo RPGs that I'm looking for. Fun mix of Soulslike narrative pointcrawl adventure mixed with tactical grid based combat using dice leads to a very fun experience so far.
New video up on the channel! This week I took a look at the flip and write game, Flip Pick Towers from @ospreygames.bsky.social, and they were nice enough to share a digital copy of the player sheet so you can play along! (See link in video description)

Also got a chance to finally play my copy of Catacombs & Castles with my after school class today. Love me a good flicking game, and this is much easier to get played than base Catacombs (though that still has its place in my collection).
Played my first game of Defenders of the Wild today, inspired by the new campaign. Squeaked out a win in a situation where pretty much any mech card could have killed me! Wasn't sure how excited I was gonna be, but ended up really enjoying it!
Exactly this.
Just playing devil's advocate here, but the difference in these two situations is that in the paid review, you were paid before the review, and in the other case, much longer afterwards, you made a little money (hopefully much less than the retail price of the game) to make space on your shelves.
One last new scratch off game before bed, this time Dragons Over Dunkirk! Managed to find all six nests without running into mommy, and if I hadn't made a stupid decision in the last day, I could have done with all four men still alive...
Well I'll tell you again then...do it!
Such a great movie!
Tried (and beat!) another one of the Zach Attack scratch off games today. This one is kind of battleship meets mine sweeper, and I had a lot of fun with it. Getting GI Joe vibes visually as well, which makes me smile.

I get that. I just meant that the prewritten content reinforces the idea that playing a character throughout could work.
Have only played once but had a ton of fun with it. I can definitely agree with the sentiment that it is TTRPG adjacent, but that means you are role playing a gambler in the game, for what it's worth. That said, there is 100% very fun emergent narrative in every play.
But this is kind of there too, as the end game story you read based on your number of points.
Is there any hidden info or limited communication? Could it be played multi handed solo?
Then finished out the day with three games of Fliptoons, twice solo (one loss and one win) and then once two player with my son, winning by only two points when the end game triggered by the deck running out. Still really enjoy this one quite a bit.
Second Zach Barth game is Chemistry Set, a two player duel game that also has a sort of timed solo mode. Was one turn away from a win in my first game, but pulled it out in the second one!
It's very good.
Tried out the two Zach Barth games I got this week, first up was the solo only game Lucky Seven, pulling out a win against the baddies with only two casualties. Enjoy the spatial puzzle this one presents and excited to dig in some more.
New video up on the channel! This time I took a look at the solo mode in the card drafting, spatial puzzle game, Tรญr na nรg, from @grandgamersguild.bsky.social.

New purchases came today! Very excited to finally have a copy of Junk Art, especially with wooden pieces. Was very happy when I heard it was getting a new version. Also glad to finally have a copy of Flip toons as well!
Played my first game of Railroad Tiles with the Forest expansion tonight. This one was much more straightforward than the Monuments expansion, kind of just a "more stuff" expansion that adds an additional terrain type and a new token type. Still lots of fun though!
Played two of the scratch off games from Zach Attack! today and am already excited by what I'm seeing! (Though not loving what I'm smelling, lol, they stink of rosewater or something else flowery)
After listening to the @danthurot.bsky.social interview with Zach Barth last week, I was instantly intrigued by his scratch off games and somewhat curious about the solo card games as well, so I reached out and was lucky enough to snag a few review copies!
Likewise an honor that a designer and fellow trick taking enthusiast knows of my little channel and speaks so highly of it. Thanks!
