You did it...
Corvus Agonistes Famished Corvid triad Poised to Sup on a Slain king: Bones to House them, Hair to Nest them, Flesh to Feed them. Now they Perch outside our Window, poised to Claim us as we Falter. And Falter we will โ in the Steady flux of Mood, air and Fortune. That Nevermore mania from Plutoโs coal-black shore Occulting the pallid Cast of Reason. That Black Shuck Handle for crippling Despond shadowing his Stride through Whitehall and Chartwell, Keening upon the heels of Gallipoli. That Jackdaw-pun Insignia of Family omen in Prague โ a Mind stalling at Minds sharing his Inner plight. He Pictures such people โ but cannot Picture the secret corbie that Circles his head Circling theirs. Absurd, malevolent Worlds he creates, Inflecting the Absurd, malevolent Worlds we create when we Fixate on figures of Light, neglecting the Night we bracket and Beget. Shadows deepen in the Deathly shallows, Offsetting that Fable-fetish of Unmitigated felicity, Wherein the Demonic can gain Ingress - City-upon-the-Hill Beacon for Ear-cut, hang-witch Massacre. ยฉJan Peters/Solivagant Wisdom, 2026 Partly inspired by The Three Corbies, a traditional Scottish ballad, Edgar Allan Poe and Franz Kafka.

Striking use of corvid imagery running through gives the piece a strong, dark eerie thread. I enjoyed the literary echoes, almost ballad like cadence. It feels rich with myth and history, something you do consistently well.
Always find your work so powerful John. The gruesome though somewhat detached panning in then out again, dream like.
"undigested blue meringue skyโ. Amazing line!
I love nature but you've made it terrifying. I'm not sure i want to go out hiking this weekend. Very clever POV. Fascinating details.
I haven't done this for a while, but after hearing the shameful figures about the tsunami of masculism in our enlightened world, I felt moved to say something.

The uncomfortable unwelcome attention....oh to be female. We are taught at such a young age 'how to be'. The conflict of being a girl, don't wear trousers, dont climb trees, don't encourage but be feminine. Your poem ignited a rage which sits mostly quietly under the surface of my skin. ๐
Thanks @thebrokenspine.co.uk @alanparrywriter.co.uk for the #PoemsAbout prompt #BeingWatched . As a child I was scared of the dark - even when the lights were on!
Look forward to catching up after work later. Happy Friday! ๐ #poetry

There's a lot to unpack here, a lot of emotions. Some absolutely stunning lyrical lines. What a journey this is to read.
Vigil I sit watching you are calm hearing ice-laden rain lashing a world beyond I donโt dare move even breathing feels brave donโt dare believe you are here
It's still early and so many excellent poems for #PoemsAbout #BeingWatched already! Here's a contribution from me; for a lover, a child, a parent? Thanks @thebrokenspine.co.uk for the prompt! #poems #poetry #writingcommunity
Spare and tense. I became aware I was holding my breath.
I kind of figured it would need several weeks. I went to NZ and such a long way for somewhere so familiar to England. I should have nipped across to Aus then.
Incredibly cute.

Have travelled a lot for work and pleasure. Norway top of my list, Japan a dream but it's far.
No desire to return to the US or visit Russia or China.
Even the thought of visiting Australia tires me though I'd love to....if I could sleep for the entire duration of travel.
So little time this week, but remembered this very old one which sort of fits the @thebrokenspine.co.uk #PoemsAbout theme #BeingWatched Will try to catch up later.
Truly tender, beautiful and sad. A lovely portrait.
Very gaunt but still a strong presence.
