Gonna start a book club, but instead of all reading the book individually, we’re gonna meet up regularly and take turns reading each other stories.

Forget politics, capitalism has co-opted this entire system of mass engagement to co-opt damn near everything to drastically increase the rate at which wealth flows up to the rich

So, basically, Instagram is directly responsible for *gestures wildly* all that shit.
To go a little bit further, Mark Zuckerberg’s inability to get laid in college directly led to the ongoing collapse of society.
And finally I get to my point lol
Lessons are taken from the examples of SM influencers ability to leverage The Algorithm and were adapted to leverage The Algorithm for political gain, and eventually become a primary mechanism by which political movements were built and mobilized.
Seeing dollar signs, every other SM started to follow suit. Then came the ground up algorithmics like Vine, perfected by Tiktok. Because of the amount of time spent on SM, it becomes more intertwined with Real Life, it becomes more and more of an influence on peoples politics.

To sum up:
Instagram was the first place to do algorithmic SM, and the first place where it became possible to garner large public recognition and influence purely through Social Media. (Cont Below)

The 2016 US election, and honestly every major political event since has been, at least in part, driven by Social Media.
And in more recent years it has become the primary place where major political discussions happen and political movements take shape.

Once Social Media is intertwined with Real Life Stuff™️ to this degree, suddenly it becomes a viable mechanism for mass politics.

Couple the above with the increasing importance of Social Media as the place to get information on real life issues for a lot of reasons including The Algorithm itself driving so many eyes and ad dollars to Socials and you get our final pin (next skeet)
