New ‘Starship Troopers’ Movie in the Works from ‘District 9’ Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (Exclusive)
Sony is behind the new adaptation, which is not a remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 film, but rather will go back to the 1959 novel as source material.
Fantastic news! Starship Troopers is incredible; I must have read it 5 times at this stage and I’ve gifted it to around a dozen colleagues. IMO no fictional work explains the roles of NCOs vs officers better, and it’s a very enjoyable read in general! 🤓📖

Why sports metaphors fall short in Army leadership
Opinion: In this op-ed, a West Point cadet argues the Army relies on sports metaphors to oversimplify complex ideas.
Sporting metaphors and analogies used to motivate soldiers or simplify a tactical problem: Sometimes it works well, mostly it’s a shortcut for a commander to take instead of explaining the situation coherently to subordinates using correct military terminology.

Not the Heroic Model of Decision-Making
Podcast Episode · Command and Control · 16/04/2024 · 45m
“more intelligent people are better able to make decisions…simply because they're able to hold more complex information in their heads at any one point in time. The good news for the rest of us is that everybody can get better through practice.”

1st post? Auftragstaktik quote! “The advantage of the situation will never be fully utilized if subordinate commanders wait for orders. Only if leaders of all ranks are competent for and accustomed to independent action will the possibility exist of moving large masses with ease.”-Helmuth Von Moltke
