I like all of the things you said and can only add that at a household level the optimizations we’re talking about don’t add up to much in terms of real dollars while the late fees on consumer debt are far higher percentage-wise. Mistakes will cost a lot.
Republicans have been convincing voters to vote against their own self interest as long as I’ve been around. Usually the “find out” stage just isn’t so soon and so obvious.
“Bit of partisanship” is doing some heavy lifting there. The GOP started this fight and tying a state’s congressional outcome to the presidential vote is pretty clearly unamerican. The whole point that three party system that the GOP has clearly abandoned in deference to their orange king.
