The Ajinmoto chicken fried rice you can microwave that my dad gets from the freezer section was in this recall.
Ajinmoto is basically recalling most every frozen food they make, that have multiple brand names including Ling Ling.

Honestly I forget about that feature for weeks at a time

My mom sometimes bragged about her lunches in high school, which was cigarettes and a single ice cream sandwich.

This reminded me that medi-cal sent out a letter to everyone in November or so saying that in 2026 they would no longer cover GLP-1s for anyone on medi-cal. Like, at all.

It seems even worse, because with the GLP-1s (which are great for some medical conditions), thinness is now about wealth instead of the “willpower” buzzwords of the 90s. Those were bad and damaging, this time we’re using it to reinforce class barriers, too.

FYI for fellow narrative designers/game writers: the studio in question is Sentona Games and it’s my understanding they are currently interviewing to replace me. Be very careful with them. They were very nice to me and easy to work with right up until I needed the money I was promised.

She’s retired but they have savings. My dad put so much into retirement when I was a child we were basically living in poverty until my mom started working when I was maybe 11 or so. And my mom didn’t know he was doing that for a long time.

it was a long process of elimination to figure out what he was objecting to! At one point I thought it was just that he hated the idea of cleanliness and he liked sleeping in his own stink. But no. He’s now sleeping happily on his clean blankets instead of glaring at me and avoiding them for days.

To clarify, it’s not my dryer. Other people use fabric softener in the apartment dryers and that is the residue he objects to.

The last conservative opinion piece my mom sent me was some guy saying that no one is owed food or healthcare and you should just work harder if you want to live

Also me: washed the cat blankets with All Free & Clear (Dirtbag Henry hates Tide) & hung them to dry, because Dirtbag Henry hates fabric softener, so if you dry his blankets without fabric softener, there’s still enough residue in the dryer to offend him for days.
