FACT OF THE DAY. 18 April 1949. Republic of Ireland Act 1948 became law. It declared that Ireland would henceforth be officially described as the Republic of Ireland and vested in the President of Ireland the power to exercise the executive authority of the state.
☘️ It was an honour to take part in today’s St Patrick’s Day Mass and parade in Ashton organised by the Brian Boru Club, the oldest Irish club in the UK and a focal point for the Catholic community near and far. As a member of that community, I was proud to represent St Helens North in today’s event.
Great place. Been there pre and post picket line on a few occasions 🍺
